Prof. Dr. Udo Schickhoff studied Geography, Botany, Geology, and Sociology in Bochum and Münster from 1981 to 1988 and received his doctorate from the University of Münster in 1993. In 1999, he completed his habilitation at the University of Bonn. Since 2004, he has been a professor of Geography at the Institute of Geography at the University of Hamburg. He is a member of the Biogeography and Landscape Ecology working group. Prof. Dr. Schickhoff’s key aspects of activity are biogeography, vegetation and landscape ecology, human/nature interactions, mountain environments, forest and steppe ecosystems, and the Arctic, Central and South Asia, North America, and Central Europe.
