With the rapid development of urbanization and industrialization, China’s metropolitan areas have experienced dramatic transitions of land use, which has had a profound impact on the eco-environment. Accordingly, the contradictions of regional production, living, and ecological spaces have intensified. In this context, analysis of the dynamics of regional production–living–ecological (PLE) spaces has become an important entry point for studying land use transition and its eco-environmental effects, by constructing a classification system of PLE land functions. Using remote sensing data from four periods from 1985 to 2018, this paper explores the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of PLE spaces and their eco-environmental effects in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei (BTH) urban agglomeration, based on GIS and the InVEST model. The results revealed that from 1985 to 2018, the living space of the BTH region expanded rapidly, the production space gradually shrank, and the ecological land remained relatively stable. The eco-environmental quality index within the study area shows obvious regional differences, demonstrating the spatial distribution of “high in the northwest and low in the southeast”, and an overall deteriorating trend in the past 33 years. Moreover, the carbon density decreased gradually from northwest to southeast, and the transformations from production land into living land and from ecological land into production land were the major types of eco-environment deterioration. Our findings will provide guidelines for land use management, and offer references for the functional division of PLE spaces and ecological civilization construction, especially in terms of the coordinated development of the BTH region.

This study aims to investigate major complications or symptoms of pregnant women, causes of maternal near-miss, and issues that are relevant to severe maternal disease. A retrospective analysis was performed in the “maternal individual investigation form,” which included all critical maternity patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from January 1, 2012 to September 31, 2015. A total of 14,014 pregnant patients who delivered at 28 to 42 weeks of gestation were included. Eight thousand eighty-six patients experienced complications or symptoms, and top 7 of these were postpartum hemorrhage, hypertension during pregnancy, diabetes, anemia, hepatopathy, nephroma, and connective tissue disease, of which the morbidity were 11.92%, 10.15%, 9.34%, 8.57%, 3.13%. 0.56%, and 0.55%, respectively. Delivery times, gestational weeks, and informal pregnancy examinations had significant correlation with maternal near-miss (P < .05); nevertheless, the age at pregnancy, number of pregnancies, and education were not so significant (P > .05). Two hundred sixty-five patients had severe maternal diseases (maternal near miss), and the top 5 causes for severe maternal morbidity were massive blood transfusion, thrombocytopenia, clinical feature of shock, uterus removal induced by uterus infection or bleeding, and coagulation dysfunction, of which the morbidity were 24.15%, 18.87%, 13.58%, 9.43%, and 6.79%, respectively. Delivery times, gestational weeks, and informal pregnancy examinations should be considered in maternal near miss patients. Moreover, hypertensive disorders during pregnancy, postpartum hemorrhage, anemia, thrombocytopenia, hepatopathy, and cardiopathy were the principal causes of maternal near miss. Therefore, the monitoring of these principal causes of severe maternity near miss is important for reducing the maternal morbidity and mortality.

In recent years, rural transformation has gradually become the focus of scholars and governments in the context of global sustainable development; it is of great significance to achieve urban-rural integration and coordinated development through studying the spatial-temporal characteristics and driving mechanism of rural transformation development. This paper analyzes the spatial-temporal characteristics of county-rural transformation development through drawing into the transformation degree (TD) and coordination degree (CD) from the viewpoint of “population–land–industry” (PT-IT-LT) in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It explores the mechanism of PT-IT-LT on the rural transformation in different stages through multi-element positioning in the same space coordinate system and carries out functional regionalization on the basis of transformation and coordination research. The results showed that: (1) The CD and TD were divided into four types, namely, the lower-level, low-level, middle-level and high-level, and had a similar changed tendency from 1990 to 2015, where the middle- and high-level were in the central counties of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the lower- and low-level were in the other parts of the region. (2) According to the mechanism analysis, stages A and B were mainly influenced by industry transformation; stage D was affected by population transformation; and stage E was influenced by land transformation. (3) The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region was divided into an ecological conservation area, a key development area and a core leading area, according to the study, which would provide a scientific basis to achieve integration of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and regional strategic optimization.

Land ecological security (LES) is a cornerstone of sustainable development, and the study of the LES evaluation has become a hot field in the LES problems. The coordinated development of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei (BTH) region is one of China’s national development strategies. With the development of urbanization and industrialization, the conflicts between people and land in this area are increasingly prominent, and there are large regional differences in land ecological quality. To evaluate the land ecological security (LES) of this region, an evaluation index system is constructed based on the pressure–state–response (PSR) framework model, and the entropy-weighted TOPSIS method is applied to calculate the LES index. Then, the spatio-temporal changes of LES in the BTH region from 2007 to 2018 are analyzed. In addition, we adopt an obstacle degree model to analyze the obstacle indicators. The results show that the LES of the BTH region increased from 0.1934 to 0.3284 during 2007–2018, and the LES level increased from the dangerous level (I) to the critical level (III). Despite the improved LES in all areas in the BTH region, there were different trends (high in the central area, relatively low in the northern and southern areas). We identified seven obstacle indicators and discussed different development strategies. Our findings will provide guidelines for land use management and offer references for the coordinated development of the BTH region.
