Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that can lead towards death if left untreated. TB detection involves extraction of complex TB manifestation features such as lung cavity, air space consolidation, endobronchial spread, and pleural effusions from chest x-rays (CXRs). Deep learning based approach named convolutional neural network (CNN) has the ability to learn complex features from CXR images. The main problem is that CNN does not consider uncertainty to classify CXRs using softmax layer. It lacks in presenting the true probability of CXRs by differentiating confusing cases during TB detection. This paper presents the solution for TB identification by using Bayesian-based convolutional neural network (B-CNN). It deals with the uncertain cases that have low discernibility among the TB and non-TB manifested CXRs. The proposed TB identification methodology based on B-CNN is evaluated on two TB benchmark datasets, i.e., Montgomery and Shenzhen. For training and testing of proposed scheme we have utilized Google Colab platform which provides NVidia Tesla K80 with 12 GB of VRAM, single core of 2.3 GHz Xeon Processor, 12 GB RAM and 320 GB of disk. B-CNN achieves 96.42% and 86.46% accuracy on both dataset, respectively as compared to the state-of-the-art machine learning and CNN approaches. Moreover, B-CNN validates its results by filtering the CXRs as confusion cases where the variance of B-CNN predicted outputs is more than a certain threshold. Results prove the supremacy of B-CNN for the identification of TB and non-TB sample CXRs as compared to counterparts in terms of accuracy, variance in the predicted probabilities and model uncertainty.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has dramatically changed human context with the environment, ensuring productivity, comfort, and quality of life through a variety of services and applications. Nevertheless, the rapid growth of IoT devices has introduced significant security concerns like device vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, and potential data breaches. This article deals with an immediate call to empower IoT resilience against a wide range of sophisticated and prevalent cybersecurity threats. We developed two novel hybrid deep learning mechanisms, CNN-GRU (Convolutional Gated Recurrent Neural Networks) and CNN-LSTM (Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory Neural Networks), and extensively evaluated their performance on the state-of-the-art Kitsune and TON-IoT publicly available datasets. These benchmark datasets contain a variety of multivariate IoT attacks. The aim is to demonstrate the robustness of the proposed algorithms in effectively identifying telnet, password, distributed denial of service (DDoS), injection, and backdoor vulnerabilities in IoT ecosystems. We achieved approximately 99.6% accuracy in correctly distinguishing between malevolent and non-malicious activities on the Kitsune dataset. Additionally, the TON-IoT dataset demonstrated a remarkable accuracy rate of 99.00%, with minimal drops and low false alert rates. The time efficiency of both proposed algorithms renders them well-suited for deployment in IoT ecosystems. We evaluated and cross validated the proposed techniques with current benchmarks. Consequently, the proposed hybrid deep learning anomaly detection approaches not only enhance IoT security but also provide a robust control system for addressing emerging multivariate cyber threats.

With the evolution of fog computing, processing takes place locally in a virtual platform rather than in a centralized cloud server. Fog computing combined with cloud computing is more efficient as fog computing alone does not serve the purpose. Inefficient resource management and load balancing leads to degradation in quality of service as well as energy losses. Traffic overhead is increased because all the requests are sent to the main server causing delays which cannot be tolerated in healthcare scenarios. To overcome this problem, the authors are consolidating fog computing resources so that requests are handled by foglets and only critical requests are sent to the cloud for processing. Servers are placed locally in each city to handle the nearby requests in order to utilize the resources efficiently along with load balancing among all the servers, which leads to reduced latency and traffic overhead with the improved quality of service.

The poultry industry contributes majorly to the food industry. The demand for poultry chickens raises across the world quality concerns of the poultry chickens. The quality measures in the poultry industry contribute towards the production and supply of their eggs and their meat. With the increasing demand for poultry meat, the precautionary measures towards the well-being of the chickens raises the concerns of the industry stakeholders. The modern technological advancements help the poultry industry in monitoring and tracking the health of poultry chicken. These advancements include the identification of the chickens’ sickness and well-being using video surveillance, voice observations, ans feces examinations by using IoT-based wearable sensing devices such as accelerometers and gyro devices. These motion-sensing devices are placed over a chicken and transmit the chicken’s movement data to the cloud for further analysis. Analyzing such data and providing more accurate predictions about chicken health is a challenging issue. In this paper, an IoT based predictive service framework for the early detection of diseases in poultry chicken is proposed. The proposed study contributes by extending the dataset through generating the synthetic data using Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN). The experimental results classify the sick and healthy chicken in a poultry farms using machine learning classification modeling on the synthetic data and the real dataset. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the proposed system has achieved an accuracy of 97%. Moreover, the accuracy of the different classification models are compared in the proposed study to provide more accurate and best performing classification technique. The proposed study is mainly focused on proposing an Industrial IoT-based predictive service framework that can classify poultry chickens more accurately in real time.

Context: Recently, research community of certain domain showing their eagerness towards the use of social media networks to gain constructive knowledge in decision making and automation, such as aid to perform software development activities, crypto-currencies usage, network community detection and recommendation and so on. Recently, besides other domains of eHealth, the use of social media and big data analytics has become hot topic to predict the patient of mental illness involved in either depression, schizophrenia, eating disorders, anxiety or addictive behaviors. Problem: Traditional methods either need enough historic data or to keep the regular monitoring on patient activities for identification of a patient associated with a mental illness disease. Method: In order to address this issue, we propose a methodology to classify the patients associated with chronic mental illness diseases (i.e. Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) based on the data extracted from the Reddit, a well-known network community platform. The proposed method is employed through Co-training (type of semi-supervised learning approach) technique by incorporating the discriminative power of widely used classifiers namely Random Forrest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Naïve Bayes (NB). We used Reddit API to download posts and top five associated comments for construction of a feature space. Results: The experimental results indicate the effectiveness of Co-training based classification rather than the state of the art classifiers by a margin of 3% on average in par with every state of art technique. In future, the proposed method could be employed to investigate any classification problem of any domain by extracting date from the social media.

Recognition of facial images is one of the most challenging research issues in surveillance systems due to different problems including varying pose, expression, illumination, and resolution. The robustness of recognition method strongly relies on the strength of extracted features and the ability to deal with low-quality face images. The proficiency to learn robust features from raw face images makes deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) attractive for face recognition. The DCNNs use softmax for quantifying model confidence of a class for an input face image to make a prediction. However, the softmax probabilities are not a true representation of model confidence and often misleading in feature space that may not be represented with available training examples. The primary goal of this paper is to improve the efficacy of face recognition systems by dealing with false positives through employing model uncertainty. Results of experimentations on open-source datasets show that 3–4% of accuracy is improved with model uncertainty over the DCNNs and conventional machine learning techniques.
