This study aimed to analyze preferred leg (PLs) and non-preferred leg (NPLs) isokinetic knee strength, lateral asymmetry ratios and to examine their correlation with static balance. Sixteen female taekwondo (TKD) athletes voluntarily participated in the study. Knee isokinetic extension (Ex) and flexion (Flx) strength were measured in concentric / concentric (Con / Con) contractions at angular velocities of 60°/s, 180°/s, and 240°/s. Ipsilateral hamstring / quadriceps (H/Q) and bilateral (H/H and Q /Q) ratios were calculated. Static balances were determined by taking the center of body pressure in X (COPX) and Y (COPY) axis. Paired sample t-test and Pearson correlation tests were used in statistical analysis. When the isokinetic knee strength was examined, it was found that 60°/s angular velocity parameter was significantly different in Flx phase while 180°/s and 240°/s angular velocities were found to be significantly different in Ex phase in favor of PLs. There was no significance in bilateral and ipsilateral strength ratios of all angular velocities. There was a significant correlation between 240°/s HQ and COPX in terms of ipsilateral asymmetry ratios whereas a significant correlation was found between 60°/s HH and COPX in terms of bilateral asymmetry ratios. It was found that there were differences in strength between PL and NPLs, but no asymmetry was observed. There was no high level of correlation between lateral asymmetry ratios and balance in female TKD practitioners.

The main purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between the aerobic and anaerobic performance of diaphragm thickness in athletes. That study was conducted with 15 team athletes (TA) (age 21.80 ± 2.40 years), 15 individual athletes (IA) (age 18.93 ± 2.31 years) and the control group (CON) 10 people living sedentary lifestyles (age 23.60 ± 2.91 years). In this study, diaphragm muscle thickness (B-mode ultrasonography), respiratory function (spirometry and maximum inspiratory (MIP) and expiratory pressures (MEP), aerobic capacity yo-yo intermittent endurance Test 1 (YYIET-1), and anaerobic power by Monark 834 E were assessed. The diaphragm thickness was determined from the intercostalspace between the 8th and 9th ribs at the expiration time by ultrasound and from the intercostal space between the 10th and 11th ribs at inspiration and then, the thickness of the diaphragm was measured from the diaphragm is seen best. There was a positive correlation between DiTins (r= 0.477) and DiTins-ex (r= 0.473) parameters of TA. In IA, there was a significant correlation between DiTins and DiTins-ex parameters and Peak Power (r= 0.495 and 0.435, respectively) and average power (r= 0.483 and 0.446, respectively). No significant correlation in all parameters of the CON group (p<0.05). As a result, it was determined that athletes with high diaphragm thickness had higher anaerobic performance, and athletes with thinner diaphragm thickness had better VO2Max capacity. The diaphragm thickness of the athletes in individual branches was thicker than the team athletes, and their anaerobic performance was also higher.

The aim of this study is to compare the self-efficacy of individual and team athletes. The population of the study consists of athletes over the age of 18 in Samsun province. The sample group consists of a total of 200 athletes, 101 from individual athletes and 99 from team athletes. Athlete Self-Efficacy Scale and "Personal Information Form" were used as data collection tools. For data analysis, Independent Sample T-Test was used to compare the variables. Results: In the comparison of athletes' self-efficacy according to the type of sport, there is no statistical difference in the sub-dimensions according to the findings related to the type of sport (p>0.05). However, when the mean scores are analysed, team athletes have higher mean scores than individual athletes in the sub-dimensions of Sports Competence and Personality. In the sub-dimensions of Psychological Competence and Professional Thinking, individual athletes had higher mean scores than team athletes. In the comparison of self-efficacy of individual and team athletes according to gender, there was no statistical difference in sub-dimensions (p>0.05). In the comparison of self-efficacy of individual and team athletes according to their height, there is a statistical difference between athletes with a height of 175 cm and below and athletes with a height of 176 cm and above in the sub-dimension of professional thinking in athletes (p

It is known that the respiratory system develops in response to exercise. However, it is not clear whether sport or music has a greater effect. The aim of this study was to investigate whether different types of sport and music have a greater effect on the development of the respiratory system. Individuals who continued their active sports and music life, who exercised regularly at least 3 days a week and whose FEV1/FVC ratio was above 75% were included in the study, while individuals with a history of lung disease, upper respiratory disease and less than 6 years of experience were excluded from the study. MGC Diagnostics brand spirometry was used to measure forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), FEV1/FVC, forced vital capacity (FVC), slow vital capacity (SVC), inspiratory capacity and maximal volumetric capacity, maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP), maximal expiratory pressure (MEP) and MicroRPM (Kent, UK) electronic respiratory pressure device. In our study, basketball players had higher respiratory muscle strength than opera singers (p<0.05). Differences were found in pulmonary function tests for forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in one second, slow vital capacity and maximal voluntary volume (p<0.05). It was observed that athletes had higher values in pulmonary function tests (FVC, FEV1, SVC, MVV) and maximal inspiratory MIP and MEP parameters than musicians (p<0.05). Therefore, exercise has a greater effect on the respiratory system than music.
