Isabel Vigo obtained a Mathematics degree from the University of Salamanca in 1995 and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Alicante (UA) in 1999, specializing in Celestial Mechanics. Since 2001, she has served as an associate professor at UA, with a research focus on space geodesy following her postdoctoral training at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. She leads a pioneering research group in Satellite Geodesy for Earth Observation and Climate Studies at UA, contributing to fields such as Positioning, Sea Level, Mass Variations, and Ocean Circulation. Vigo has worked with various geodetic techniques, including SLR, GPS, Satellite Gravity, and Satellite Altimetry. She has participated in over 50 research projects, including international space missions, and is a member of the Spanish Commission of Geodesy and Geophysics.
