Information

Rocco Servidio is an Associate Professor in Social Psychology at the Department of Cultures, Education and Society at the University of Calabria (Italy). Rocco's study and research activity touch on the general, theoretical, and methodological themes of Social Psychology. Among the themes studied, particular attention is given to the classic issues of social psychology (social identity, prejudice), which are always current due to their practical relevance in understanding intergroup relations. Another topic of interest is Social Psychology applied to technology-based new behavioural addiction, aimed at investigating the psychosocial phenomena connected to the risk of addiction to technology and different types of electronic tools and digital environments. The main areas of study align with current literature exploring the theories developed to study the relationship between individuals and technologies. Moreover, the studies investigate individual differences (personality factors, self-concept clarity) and interpersonal relationships (social comparison) as risk factors for technology-related addiction vis-a-vis self-esteem as a protective factor. Another area of interest is the validation and adaptation of research instruments in the Italian context for the thematic areas of his research.
