This paper introduces an Adaptive Dynamic Bounded Sliding Mode Control (ADBSMC) method that incorporates a disturbance observer to enhance the response characteristics of the robot manipulator while eliminating the reliance on a priori knowledge. The proposed method utilizes nonlinear sliding mode manifolds and fast-terminal-type convergence laws to address errors and parameter uncertainties inherent in the nonlinear system models. The adaptive law is designed to cover all boundary conditions based on the model’s state. It can dynamically determine upper and lower bounds without requiring prior knowledge. Consequently, the ADBSMC control method amalgamates the benefits of adaptive law and fast terminal sliding mode, leading to significant enhancements in control performance compared with traditional sliding mode control (SMC), exhibiting robustness against uncertain disturbances. To mitigate external disturbances, a system-adapted disturbance observer is devised, facilitating real-time monitoring and compensation for system disturbances. The stability of ADBSMC is demonstrated through the Lyapunov method. Simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness and superiority of the ADBSMC control scheme, showcasing its potential for practical applications.

This paper presents SE2-LET-VINS, an enhanced Visual–Inertial Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (VI-SLAM) system built upon the classic Visual–Inertial Navigation System for Monocular Cameras (VINS-Mono) framework, designed to improve localization accuracy and robustness in complex environments. By integrating Lightweight Neural Network (LET-NET) for high-quality feature extraction and Special Euclidean Group in 2D (SE2) optical flow tracking, the system achieves superior performance in challenging scenarios such as low lighting and rapid motion. The proposed method processes Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) data and camera data, utilizing pre-integration and RANdom SAmple Consensus (RANSAC) for precise feature matching. Experimental results on the European Robotics Challenges (EuRoc) dataset demonstrate that the proposed hybrid method improves localization accuracy by up to 43.89% compared to the classic VINS-Mono model in sequences with loop closure detection. In no-loop scenarios, the method also achieves error reductions of 29.7%, 21.8%, and 24.1% on the MH_04, MH_05, and V2_03 sequences, respectively. Trajectory visualization and Gaussian fitting analysis further confirm the system’s good robustness and accuracy. SE2-LET-VINS offers a robust solution for visual–inertial navigation, particularly in demanding environments, and paves the way for future real-time applications and extended capabilities.

Multilayer piezoelectric stacks, which are multiple layers of piezoelectric materials placed on top of each other, are widely used to achieve precise linear movement and high-force generation. In this paper, a dynamic stiffness (DS) method for the dynamic vibration analysis of multilayer piezoelectric stacks is presented. First, the general solutions for all physical quantities of the three vibration contributions (i.e., pure vibration, symmetrically coupled vibration, and anti-symmetrically coupled vibration) are derived from the governing equations of motion. Then, the DS matrices of each layer of the piezoelectric stack are obtained, and they are assembled to form a global DS matrix. The electrical impedances and the mode shapes of a piezoelectric stack consisting of two piezoelectric disks connected in series and in parallel are calculated using our method as well as by the finite element method. The comparison shows good agreement. Finally, the effect of the number of layers on the dynamic responses of piezoelectric stacks is investigated. The DS method developed here provides an efficient and accurate analytical tool for the parametric and optimization analysis of the coupled vibrations of multilayer piezoelectric structures.

Refractory high-entropy alloys (RHEAs) have garnered attention for their exceptional high-temperature mechanical properties, making them suitable for aerospace and energy applications. However, balancing strength and ductility remains a challenge due to the presence of Laves phases. In this study, Al0.5Nb0.5TiV2Zrx (x = 0–2.0) alloys were prepared using vacuum arc melting, and their microstructural evolution and mechanical properties were analyzed. At room temperature, the Al0.5Nb0.5TiV2Zr0.5 alloy exhibits the highest yield strength (1658.1 MPa), which is primarily attributed to strong lattice distortion induced by Zr and moderate precipitation strengthening from Laves phases. In contrast, at higher Zr contents, excessive Laves phase precipitation promotes stress concentration, leading to a marked reduction in both strength and ductility. High-temperature compression tests revealed that the Al0.5Nb0.5TiV2Zr0.5 and Al0.5Nb0.5TiV2Zr1.5 alloys still exhibited over 50% compressive plasticity at 800 °C and 1000 °C. However, when the temperature reached 1000 °C, the instability of the Laves phase led to a reduction in the yield strength to below 160 MPa, indicating that the effect of solid-solution strengthening was no longer significant under high-temperature conditions. These findings clarify the critical role of Zr content and temperature in governing the microstructural and mechanical evolution of the Al–Nb–Ti–V–Zr system and provide a theoretical basis for achieving an optimized strength–ductility balance in RHEAs through compositional control.

As industrial technology advances at an accelerated pace, the demands on the performance characteristics of aluminum alloys are becoming more stringent. Researchers have enhanced the casting process of aluminum alloys through a range of innovative methods, thereby significantly improving the overall performance of these materials. This advancement better equips aluminum alloys to meet the increasingly stringent requirements in the aerospace, new energy, and automotive industries. This paper reviews the current development status of casting aluminum alloys using directional solidification technology, details the process parameters and simulation techniques, and summarizes studies on the corrosion performance of directionally solidified aluminum alloys as evaluated by electrochemical testing. Additionally, this paper elaborates on the current research status regarding the enhancement of directionally solidified aluminum alloys through the application of magnetic fields, providing a valuable reference for future studies on directional solidification technology in casting aluminum alloys.
