The aim of this article is to present data concerning customers’ satisfaction with the 4 systemic banks operating in Greece. Today, the market share of these banks is over 95%, as the economic crisis of 2010 has led to structural changes in the banking industry of the country. At the same time, the conditions created by the COVID-19 pandemic will potentially lead to additional changes such as a more intensive use of alternative networks. To collect the research data, 5,018 questionnaires have been responded by retail customers of the 4 systemic banks operating in Greece during the period between June 2017 and June 2019. The criteria used to determine customers’ satisfaction with the 4 systemic banks of banks concern products and services, branch network, staff and customer service. Τhe collected data have been analyzed using the Muticriteria Satisfaction Analysis (MUSA) method. The results of the MUSA method provide several evidence that can be taken into account during the strategic development process of any organization including banks.

The present research investigates the contribution of environmental innovation to firms’ competitive advantage through the case of medium and large-sized firms operating in Greece. Due to the growing trend of environmental innovation in Greece and a consequent increase in the research interest, this paper fills the existing gap in the relevant literature as there is not enough evidence concerning Greek firms’ environmental innovation practices. To meet the research goal, a questionnaire was distributed to 892 medium and large-sized firms operating in Greece; 225 questionnaires were finally responded. The data is based on firms’ self-assessment concerning environmental innovation and competitive advantage and are analyzed using both descriptive and inductive statistics, including principal components analysis and multiple linear regression. The research results show that the examined firms implement environmental innovation practices at a moderate level. The most common practices of environmental innovation are the implementation of ISO 14001 management systems and the toxic substances usage reduction. The percentage of ISO 14001 implementation is increased compared to the previous years. Furthermore, the regression analysis revealed that the components concerning environmental process innovation and environmental product innovation have a positive impact on the examined firms’ competitive capability. The relationship between open innovation and environmental innovation and the contribution of open innovation dynamics are discussed as well.

The aim of this paper is to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and conflict resolution among secondary education teachers in Greece. The research sample consists of 130 high schools’ teachers in Greece. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire, concerning teachers’ working environment, their behavior during workplace conflicts as well as their emotional intelligence and were analyzed using descriptive and inductive statistics. The statistical analyses have revealed that the main reason for workplace conflicts in secondary schools is the existence of informal groups. In addition, emotional intelligence seem to have a direct relationship with conflict resolution styles, while a negative relationship between emotional intelligence and the frequency of involvement in workplace conflicts is observed. Furthermore, it was found that holding a position of responsibility does not play a significant role in conflict resolution style adoption. The research results show that the solution-oriented method is the most popular amongst the other conflict resolution styles. Last, it was found that the average score of emotional intelligence among the respondents was high.

The aim of the present research is threefold: firstly, to investigate the environmental values of Business Administration and Accounting (BAA) students, secondly to explore their views on environmental education and thirdly to examine students’ attitudes towards social and environmental accounting (SEA). Data was collected by using a questionnaire distributed to the students of the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Accounting and Finance (BAA) of the University of West Attica. Results showed that students are environmentally sensitive. Environmental interest is found to be related to students’ perceptions of the importance of environmental education. Students have limited knowledge of the scope of SEA although they expressed their strong interest to learn more about this new accounting area acknowledging at the same time the important role of accountants in informing society about issues related to the environmental footprint of businesses.

This paper deals with a probabilistic problem in which there is a specific probability for a customer to meet a seller in a specified area. It is assumed that the area in which a seller acts follows an exponential distribution and affects the probability of meeting with a customer. Furthermore, the range in which a customer can meet a seller is another parameter which affects the probability of a successful meeting. The solution to the problem is based on a bomb fragmentation model using Lagrange equations. More specifically, using Lagrange equations, the abovementioned dimensions will be calculated in order to optimize the probability of a customer meeting a seller.

This aim of this paper is to measure industrial consumer satisfaction in the natural gas sector in Greece. By using the Multicriteria Satisfaction Analysis (MUSA) method, the paper measures industrial customer satisfaction based on criteria concerning the provided products and services, communication and collaboration with providers’ staff, customer service, pricing policy and website. The research results that are based on the analysis of 95 questionnaires collected during the period between June 2017 and October 2017 show that the index of the global customer has a good performance as its value is about 74.99%. Furthermore, the satisfaction criterion with the highest performance is the one concerning communication and collaboration with natural gas providers’ staff. It should be noted that the criterion concerning the provided products and services criterion is the only one with high performance and importance—meaning that it should be in the spotlight of the natural gas providers. The paper concludes that there is considerable space for improvements to be made. Customer satisfaction is of great importance for every company, as it can be highly connected with its performance. Using the results of this study, natural gas providers will have the chance to frame their future actions in order to keep their industrial customers satisfied. Taking into account both the fact that industrial customers’ share in the Greek natural gas market is about 25% and that this market has been recently liberalized, it is of vital importance for natural gas providers to have sufficient information about their industrial customers’ satisfaction.

The aim of the present study is to investigate the professional burnout and job satisfaction among physical education teachers who work in local sports organizations of Attica region in Greece. Questionnaires were distributed in 9 municipalities of Attica region and 120 physical education teachers were purposively selected to respond. The research results show that on the one hand, gender isn’t correlated with burnout, while age had a small but statistically significant relationship with burnout. On the other hand, men appear more satisfied than women. It was also found that organizational features affect both burnout and job satisfaction. In other words, role ambiguity reduces burnout and increases job satisfaction, while role conflict increases burnout and reduces job satisfaction. Finally, it is was observed that employees exhibited low burn out and high job satisfaction. These results confirm other studies that pointed out physical education teachers’ low levels of burnout and high levels of job satisfaction.

Worrying phenomena connected to climate change need to be treated effectively as they can lead to negative consequences in peoples’ lives. At the same time, as businesses are dominant forms of social organization, it can contribute to the forming of the natural environment. This interaction has led businesses to face a set of new challenges concerning environmental management. However, the effective response to these challenges is not just only an obligation for businesses; it can also lead them to the development of a competitive advantage as many researchers state. The aim of this paper is to propose the framework of applying operational research models in the creation of competitive advantage based on green entrepreneurship principles and the sustainable management of the environment. Such mathematical models are based on differential equations and were originally used to predict the outcome of battles. However, the similarity of business competition to battlefields has led to several applications of such models in business cases.

Measuring and analyzing public perceptions of the environment are becoming core elements in promoting environmental sustainability, which is a key goal to be achieved. The New Ecological Paradigm Scale (NEP) is used as a unidimensional measure of environmental attitudes as it is developed in order to measure the overall relationship between humans and the environment. A high NEP score is associated with high ecocentric orientation. This research aims to measure and analyze citizens’ NEP score in a Greek area. Overall, the statistical analysis verified the existence of the NEP subscales, indicated increased environmental awareness among the respondents and revealed that the respondents’ NEP score is correlated with the area of residence. Furthermore, the NEP score is correlated at a statistically significant level with respondents’ willingness to pay for renewable energy expansion.

This paper aims at examining the relationship between energy consumption deriving from renewable energy sources, and countries’ economic growth expressed as GDP per capita concerning 25 European countries. The used dataset involves European countries’ data for the period from 2007 to 2016. The statistical analysis is based on descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, and autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL), and reveals that all variables are related; this suggests a correlation between the dependent variable of GDP and the independents of renewable energy sources (RES) and Non-RES energy consumption, gross fixed capital formation, and labor force in the long-run. Furthermore, the results show that there is a higher correlation between RES’ consumption and the economic growth of countries of higher GDP than with those of lower GDP. The obtained results are consistent with other papers reviewed in this study.

The aim of this paper is to analyze and evaluate the use of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and their contribution to citizens’ life quality. For this purpose, a survey was conducted using a sample of 400 residents in an urban area of the Attica region in Greece. The methods of Principal Components Analysis and Logit Regression were used on a dataset containing the respondents’ views on various aspects of RES. Two statistical models were constructed for the identification of the main variables that are associated with the RES’ usage and respondents’ opinion on their contribution to life quality. The conclusions that can be drawn show that the respondents are adequately informed about some of the RES’ types while most of them use at least one of the examined types of RES. The benefits that RES offer, were the most crucial variable in determining both respondents’ perceptions on their usage and on their contribution to life quality.

The purpose of this study is to discover the factors shaping public opinion about renewable energy sources and investigate willingness to pay for expansion of renewable energy sources in the electricity mix. Data was collected through a questionnaire applied in Nikaia, an urban municipality of Greece. The respondents have a positive attitude towards renewable energy systems. Most of them have good knowledge of solar and wind energy systems and are using solar water heating, while several respondents own a solar PV system. Environmental protection is seen as the most important reason for investing in a renewable energy system. Willingness to pay for a wider penetration of RES into the electricity mix was estimated to be 26.5 euros per quarterly electricity bill. The statistical analysis revealed the existence of a relationship between RES perceived advantages and willingness to pay for renewable energy. Furthermore, by using a binary logit model, willingness to pay was found to be positively associated with education, energy subsidies, and state support.

The aim of this paper is to measure and analyse patients' satisfaction with the national healthcare system (NHS) in Greece. Patients' satisfaction will be measured using the multicriteria satisfaction analysis (MUSA) method while SERVQUAL's five dimensions will be used as patients' satisfaction dimensions. The research results show high levels of patient satisfaction with medical and nursing services. On the other hand, lower satisfaction rates are recorded concerning the facilities and the administrative services which are connected with the funding and the efficiency of a healthcare system. As far as it is concerned, a major challenge for the Hellenic NHS is that the underfunding problem is solved while the necessary measures are taken in order that the optimal allocation of the available resources is ensured. The research design confirms the good adjustment of multidimensional models such as SERVQUAL in patient satisfaction measurement.

Elderly people are the largest consumers of over the counter medicines (OTC) worldwide. They are using OTC medicines, on a daily basis, to treat minor health issues; however little is known regarding the attitudes and beliefs of the elderly consumers in Greece regarding the purchase and use of OTC drugs and how decisions to self-medicate are made. The OTC medicine market constitutes a key source of business expansion and leads to a significant competitive advantage. The aim of this paper is to examine the attitudes of third age Greek consumers in over the counter medicines market. We have used the Theory of Planned Behavior to explore the influence of beliefs about Medicines – particularly the OTC medicines (Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire), the influence of subjective norms and perceived behavioral control, as predictors of intent to self-medicate. Beliefs about medicines –OTC medicines emerged as the most significant predictor of intent to self-medicate, while subjective norms and perceived behavioral control were found to be secondary factors in the decision to self-medicate. Furthermore, intent to self-medicate significantly predicted (Self - Medicating Scale - SMS) the attitude of purchase and use of OTC medicines for self-medicating minor health issues. The results of the statistical analysis have shown that third age consumers in Greece do not use often OTC medicines, unlike consumers in the same age group of other countries. A significant positive correlation between the frequency of the use of OTC medicines and chronic diseases is recorded while a negative one is recorded effect among variables of the frequency of OTC medicines use and the health status of participants. The results of the survey indicate that self-medication with OTC is more likely when necessity regarding their use outweigh the concerns arising from their use.

During the last two decades of the digital era millions of people are using web technologies to communicate with other people around the world. The development of Information Technology (IT) and particularly the use of web technologies has turned the world to a much smaller place and opens up the possibility of new forms of engagement and relationship. On the other hand, IT has a major role in every organisational aspect. Through the use of IT and the internet, it is likely that in the next years all the organisations will be reshaped and will come across new challenges. The aim of this paper is to study the idea of IT and especially the role of Global Distribution Systems in the tourist industry. IT is the lifeblood of travel and tourist industry. It connects travellers, travel industry and suppliers. IT is essential for the efficient and timely processing and distribution of that information, and has dramatically enhanced the efficiency and accessibility of travel industry organisations.
