Prof. Elene Pereira Maia

Elene C. Pereira-Maia graduated in the field of Pharmacy and Biochemistry and has a Master's degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, as well as a Ph.D in Chemistry from Université Paris XIII. She has a post-doctorate from Université Paris VI. She is full professor at the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University of Minas Gerais and researcher fellow of CNPq (Brazilian Research National Council). She was a visiting professor at Université Paris XIII. She works in the field of Bio-Inorganic Chemistry, mainly on cell resistance to antitumor and antimicrobials; metal complexes with pharmacological activity; effect of metal complexes on tumor cells and mechanism of action of the new compounds.
