Ana Maria da Costa Ferreira is a full professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, University of São Paulo (IQ-USP), São Paulo, SP—Brazil. She has been teaching undergraduate and graduate students disciplines in Inorganic Chemistry, Bioinorganic Chemistry, Metal Proteins and Enzymes since 1978. She is the author of 143 publications and 2 books, and has been granted 3 Brazilian patents. She has supervised 30 Master's or Ph.D. graduate students; 15 Post-Doctors; and ~50 undergraduate students. She is a member of the ACS (American Chemical Society), the SBQ (Brazilian Chemical Society) the SBIC (Society of Biological Inorganic Chemistry), and the SFRBM (Society of Redox Biology and Medicine). She is the recipient of several awards, including the Medal of National Scientific Merit (Brazil) from the Presidency and the Ministry of Science and Technology, in 2007; the Medal “Icaro Moreira” from the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ), in 2009; and the Medal “Simão Mathias” from the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) in 2022.
