The purpose of the research is to identify the level of Government support to farmers’ income in the Republic of Serbia. This support is based on market measures and budgetary transfers directed towards producers. As budgetary transfers are defined in the agricultural policy, by applying the producer support estimate (PSE) methodology, it is indirectly evaluated whether agricultural policies have a positive or negative impact on farmers’ income and their economic status and the economic sustainability of farms. Producers of more significant agricultural commodities covered by the analysis in the period between 2012 and 2016 did not get any significant support from the state. Namely, most of the analyzed commodities had negative values of single commodity transfer (SCT) indicators, which means that agricultural producers received more taxes than incentives. In addition to the modest budgetary transfers, variations in their forms further negatively affect producers’ income. Low share of budgetary transfers in the support structure to farmers leads to the conclusion that the support to farmers’ income through higher prices on the domestic market is paid by consumers.
The paper aims to review and analyze the important economic performance of the agro-industry in AP Vojvodina, to identify the challenges it faces and to propose guidelines for further development. The results indicate that the state of the primary agricultural sector of AP Vojvodina is unsatisfactory. Low level of specialization of households and low average possession are key factors behind the sector's lag. The economic size of agricultural holdings is relatively small with an average of around € 8,953.3, and about three times smaller than in the EU-28. The food industry has a significant share of GDP and has a surplus in foreign trade. The downside is that imports are increasing disproportionately to exports of agri-food products. The food industry recorded a decline in the observed period (2018/2017), both at the Republic and provincial levels, by 2.3% and 4.8%, respectively. Increasing investments, ensuring more stable market conditions and higher subsidies to primary agricultural production with the transfer of new technologies and introducing quality standards would contribute to the stabilization and better economic performance of the primary, implicit and food sectors.
Numerous concerns associated with the use of synthetic pesticides have led to important initiatives aimed at ensuring eco-friendly practices in pest and disease control. Third-generation pesticides, biopesticides, have become a key factor in those efforts, capturing the attention of researchers worldwide. To evaluate trends in biopesticide research over the past three decades, a bibliometric analysis was performed on bibliographic data sourced from the Web of Science database. This analysis included metrics such as publication dynamics, types of documents, and assessments of research fields and categories. Co-authorship, citation, and co-occurrence networks were visualized using VOSviewer software to identify collaboration patterns, influential publications, emerging topics, and interdisciplinary connections. A total of 5054 publications on the topic of ‘biopesticide’ were found (1994–2024), nearly half of which were published in the last five years. Out of 136 contributing countries, researchers from the USA, People’s Republic of China, and India produced the most publications, while a total of 19,676 authors contributed to at least one paper throughout the entire examined period. The identification of the most frequently used keywords highlighted significant topics within biopesticide-related publications, from the earliest to the most recent, aiding in our understanding of the developmental trajectory and opportunities for future exploration.
The paper discusses the basic economic and production results of important fruit species (apple, pear, peach, sour cherry and plum) on agricultural farms of Vojvodina. The aim of the research is to evaluate the most important parameters of cost-effectiveness of these productions, and propose measures to improve the existing situation. Comparative analysis clearly shows that the most cost-effective is pears production, followed by apple, cherry, peach and plum. Pear production gives the largest coverage margin per unit capacity (1,261,786 din /ha), which is 16.5% better than in apple production (1,083,160 din /ha), or about 7.8 times better in relation to plums production (161,796 din /ha). The highest coefficient of economy (3.19) is, also, recorded in the production of pear (for apples 2.94, cherry 2.27, peach 2.17 and plum 1.44). Further development of fruit production in Vojvodina involves raising intensive farms with quality fruit varieties, firmer vertical linking of producers and processors, ensurement of economic safety of producers in the long run, making of fruit producing regions, etc.
The primary purpose of this research is to determine the production capacity requirements of a model fruit juice producer. In addition to fruit processing capacities, the company is in possession of its own land devoted to orchards. The research was conducted on the basis of a balance method, which has been used in fruit production for the planning of processing capacity requirements, i.e. the striking of a harmonious balance between the land capacity utilization via orchards and the industry of fruit processing. For the planned production of 33,280 tons of raw materials, at average yields, the producer should be in possession of an area of 2,344 ha. For the processing capacity of 160 tons of raw materials a day, the producer should be in possession of the following diversity and spatial distribution of cultivated fruit species: strawberries (516 ha), raspberries (332 ha), sour cherries (361 ha), apricots (71 ha), peaches (178 ha), blueberries (320 ha), plums (50 ha), pears (89 ha), apples (137 ha), quinces (50 ha), and grapes (240 ha).

This paper examines quantitative changes in the capacity and actual volume of the Serbian apple production in the period 1980-2016. On the basis of the analysis, forecast and comparison performed, the condition and development prospects of the Serbian apple production were assessed. An analysis of the production parameters observed was based on descriptive statistics, whereas ARIMA models were employed for forecast purposes. Based on the forecast values obtained, increasing trends in the parameters observed are expected in the forecast period. At the end of the forecast period, the total number of productive apple trees will approximate to 25 million, whereas the expected volume of apple production will approximate to 340,000 tones.
