Professor Michael Negnevitsky (Senior Member, IEEE) received his B.S.E.E. (Hons.) and Ph.D. degrees from the Byelorussian University of Technology, Minsk, Belarus, in 1978 and 1983, respectively. He is currently the Chair Professor in power engineering and computational intelligence at the University of Tasmania, Hobart, TAS, Australia. His research interests include power system analysis, power economics, microgrids and smart grids, and intelligent systems applications in power systems. Dr. Negnevitsky is Secretary of the IEEE PES Energy Development and Power Generation (EDPG) Committee, Chair of the IEEE PES International Practices Subcommittee, and Chair of the IEEE PES Working Group on High Renewable Energy Penetration in Remote and Isolated Power Systems. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Australia.
