Dulce Lourdes Morales-Ferra graduated with a degree in Biotechnology Engineering and then a master's degree in Molecular Medicine; she has focused her research on identifying plant species, and their active compounds, with useful properties in the treatment of obesity, diabetes mellitus, and metabolic syndrome. Her research studies for the development of her postgraduate theses were carried out at the Centro de Investigación Biomédica del Sur, of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (CIBIS-IMSS), specializing in the research of Mexican medicinal plants, with a phytochemical and pharmacological approach. Currently, she is developing her doctoral thesis at the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM) to obtain the title of Doctor of Science in Biological and Health Sciences.
