Dr. El-Sayed is currently a Professor in the College of Information Technology at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) University. His broad research interests span the areas of Vehicular Networks, Autonomous Systems, and Intelligent Transportation Systems. Before joining UAE University, Dr. El-Sayed held several industrial positions at Nortel Networks, Wind River Systems (acquired by Intel Corporation), and Paragon Networks (acquired by Carrier Access Corporation, then Turin Networks, Force10 Networks, and Dell). During his tenure in the industry, he led several projects focused on the performance optimization of network protocols and architectures. His contributions in these areas had a tangible impact on the performance of real commercial products, which led to winning several prestigious awards, including Nortel Networks President's Award of Excellence in Leadership and Paragon Networks CEO Award of Excellence. Dr. El-Sayed has published more than 80 refereed publications in international journals and conferences and served on the organizing and technical program committees of several international conferences.
