This study examines the effects of two plyometric training interventions over an eight-week preparatory period on straight punch impact force, cardiovascular fitness, and muscle strength in national-level boxers. Twenty male professional boxers participated voluntarily, with an average age of 22.64 ± 3.12 years and an average training experience of 5.11 ± 0.88 years. Their mean body weight and height were 70.20 ± 10.13 kg and 184.28 ± 5.38 cm, respectively. The participants were randomly assigned to two groups. Group 1, the Plyometric Stair Jump group, consisted of ten male boxers, while Group 2, the Plyometric Reaction Box Jump group, also included ten male boxers. To assess maximum punching velocity (PVmax), an accelerometer was embedded within the boxing glove, capturing data during three maximal-speed jabs with each arm to evaluate both rear-arm (RA) and lead-arm (LA) punches. Upper-body strength was assessed using a one-repetition maximum (1RM) bench press (BP) test, while maximum velocity at various percentages of 1RM was recorded via a linear encoder. Significant correlations were observed between the right arm punch velocity maximum (RA PVmax) and the bench press velocity at all submaximal intensities in both intervention groups (p < 0.05). However, no correlation was found between left arm punch velocity maximum (LA PVmax) and bench press velocity at any intensity within the Plyometric Reaction Jump (PRJ) group. Conversely, in the Plyometric Stair Jump (PSJ) group, a velocity at 80% of 1RM was the sole significant predictor of RA PVmax at submaximal bench press intensities. Adjusting for the strength-to-weight ratio significantly influenced the predictive values in intergroup comparisons (p < 0.005). These findings suggest that high-load bench press exercises (e.g., at 80% 1RM) may serve as reliable predictors of performance in specific boxing movements. However, since no significant relationship was observed with LA PVmax in this study, further research is warranted to identify exercises and intensities that may explain left arm punch velocity.

This study aimed to examine the relationship between injury-related fears and injury prevention awareness among student athletes, with a focus on selected demographic variables. The research was conducted with students enrolled in the Faculty of Sport Sciences. Data were analyzed in relation to gender, injury history, age, income level, and academic department in order to identify differences in both injury-related anxiety and awareness of preventive strategies. The findings showed no significant differences between male and female students. Athletes with previous injuries reported higher levels of both injury prevention awareness and injury-related fear. Younger participants (18–23 years) exhibited greater anxiety regarding being perceived as weak, disappointing significant others, and losing social support compared to students aged 24 and above. In addition, middle- and high-income groups demonstrated higher awareness of injury prevention and health management. Finally, students in sport and coaching programs reported higher fear scores related to being perceived as weak compared to those in sport management and recreation. These results underscore the need to provide student athletes with targeted education on pre- and post-injury processes, strengthen social and psychosocial support mechanisms, and ensure access to health services. Developing sport-specific prevention programs and employing longitudinal research designs are recommended for future studies.

Emotions are one of the important factors guiding our behaviors. People often make decisions by being influenced by their emotions throughout their lives. Therefore, it is important to recognize and learn to control our emotions. There are different groups of individuals with disabilities, and the swimming training of each group with disabilities is different. Swimming, which is one of the Paralympic sports branches, appeals to almost all groups with disabilities. There are very few swimming coaches in Turkey who provide swimming training to individuals with disabilities, and are only interested in groups with disabilities. There are swimming coaches who are accredited to the Swimming Federation of Turkey and who provide swimming training to individuals without disabilities, and their number is higher than the coaches who provide training to swimmers with disabilities. A coach, who is defined as the individual who provides sports skills and tactical development for an athlete to achieve success, is the individual who prepares many sports players for matches and tournaments to be held. The coach is responsible for raising the players to the required level by considering the variables such as process, place, equipment, technique, and tactics. In our study, it is aimed to examine the emotional intelligence levels of the coaches working with individuals with disabilities and individuals without disabilities in the swimming branch. The research is a descriptive study and the data were collected by the questionnaire method. The research data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 software. Independent samples t-test was used to compare the total score of the scale according to the status of coaching an individual with disability whereas MANOVA analysis was used to compare the status of coaching an individual with a disability * according to demographic variables.
