This work presents the design aspects of TRAVEE, a neuromotor rehabilitation system. The TRAVEE system relies on innovative concepts for improving the rehabilitation process and increasing the patient recovery rate. One such concept is to present the patient an augmented feedback as part of a learning process based on neuroplasticity. Most of the rehabilitation exercises are based on visual feedback aimed at restoring the brain function for upper limbs control. This feedback is provided in a virtual reality setting by presenting the patient with a virtual model of his/her body. The movements executed by the patient are augmented in the virtual reality. Assisting the patient by a virtual therapist when executing the recovery exercises is another original feature of the proposed system. TRAVEE is a complex system, that integrates virtual reality, robotics, electrical stimulation, electromyography and brain-computer interfaces to boost the rehabilitation process. The challenges posed to the architectural design of TRAVEE reside in the complexity of its functioning in a setup that integrates a variety of devices, with real-time operation constraints and requirements of keeping the system at accessible costs, easy to install and use. In this paper, we present the proposed hardware and software architecture for TRAVEE. We analyze and discuss the advantages of our approach and the mechanisms that address the various constraints in TRAVEE.

Using the Nehari manifold method, we establish sufficient conditions, such that a smooth functional attains a ground state within an annular domain of a closed cone. The localization we obtain immediately allows for multiplicity when applied to disjoint conical sets. To illustrate our results, we consider a two-point boundary value problem and obtain a solution within a shell of a closed cone, defined in terms of a Harnack inequality with respect to the energy norm. The conditions imposed on the nonlinear term naturally extend those from classical examples in the literature which were derived using the method of Nehari manifold on the entire domain.
This paper considers a mathematical model of steady flows of an inviscid and incompressible fluid moving in the azimuthal direction. The water density varies with depth and the waves are propagating under the force of gravity, over a flat bed and with a free surface, on which acts a force of surface tension. Our solution pertains to large scale equatorial dynamics of a fluid with free surface expressed in cylindrical coordinates. We also prove a regularity result for the free surface.

In a complex real-time application, each module can be independently developed, therefore, different processes need to communicate with each other safely and as quickly as possible. This paper proposes a flexible and efficient solution for handling the inter-process communication and for helping the programmer to quickly create modules that use the producer-consumer paradigm in order to streamline the data flow between the different processes. The communication is performed by means of a first-in first-out circular buffer which is kept in a shared memory area in order to allow quick data transfer between modules. The proposed solution allows the development of complex modularized applications suitable for real-time data processing. We describe the use of the proposed framework in a practical setup practice to as part of a software synchronization mechanism between two acquisition devices: a video capture device and an inertial measurement unit.
