Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer globally. Despite the remarkable advancements of deep learning methods in computer vision, automatic diagnosis of skin diseases still faces challenges such as limited data and class imbalance. Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), which can synthesize realistic data, appear as an alternative to mitigate these issues. However, for imbalanced data, unconditional GANs either generate uneven data distribution or neglect universal knowledge of the whole dataset, while state-of-the-art (SOTA) conditional GANs suffer from performance degradation due to the mode collapse of minority classes. This paper proposes a two-stage GAN-based method to synthesize fine-grained and diverse 256×256 pixels skin lesion images for the imbalanced dataset, named Self-Transfer GAN (STGAN). STGAN first learns universal knowledge from all classes then transfers this shared knowledge to each class and fuses it with class-specific knowledge to synthesize high-quality images. Furthermore, based on STGAN, a framework to enhance the classification performance is established. Both data generation and classification tasks are evaluated on HAM10000 dataset. In terms of Fréchet Inception Distance (FID), Inception Score, Precision, and Recall, STGAN improved by 16%, 16%, 4%, 33% compared with SOTA conditional StyleGAN2. For classification, the STGAN-based framework achieves remarkable results, with an Accuracy of 98.23%, Sensitivity of 88.85%, Precision of 90.23%, F1-score of 89.48%, and Specificity of 98.34%.
Analogy-Based Estimation (ABE) is one of the promising estimation models used for predicting the software development effort. Researchers proposed different variants of the ABE model, but still, the most suitable procedure could not be produced for accurate estimation. In this study, an artificial Bee colony guided Analogy-Based Estimation (BABE) model is proposed which ensembles Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) with ABE for accurate estimation. ABC produces different weights, out of which the most appropriate is infused in the similarity function of ABE during the stage of model training, which are later used in the testing stage for evaluation. There are six real datasets utilized for simulating the model procedure. Five of these datasets are taken from the PROMISE repository. The predictive performance is improved for BABE over the existing ones. The most significant of its performance is found on the International Software Benchmarking Standards Group (ISBSG) dataset.
Software quality can be assured by passing the process of software testing. However, software testing process involve many phases which lead to more resources and time consumption. To reduce these downsides, one of the approaches is to adopt test case prioritization (TCP) where numerous works has indicated that TCP do improve the overall software testing performance. TCP does have several kinds of techniques which have their own strengths and weaknesses. As for this review paper, the main objective of this paper is to examine deeper on machine learning (ML) techniques based on research questions created. The research method for this paper was designed in parallel with the research questions. Consequently, 110 primary studies were selected where, 58 were journal articles, 50 were conference papers and 2 considered as others articles. For overall result, it can be said that ML techniques in TCP has trending in recent years yet some improvements are certainly welcomed. There are multiple ML techniques available, in which each technique has specified potential values, advantages, and limitation. It is notable that ML techniques has been considerably discussed in TCP approach for software testing.
