Background: An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 occurred in Pazarcık District of Turkey at 04.17 on February 6, 2023 and another earthquake of 7.6 occurred at 13.24 on the same day. This is the second largest earthquake to have occurred in Turkey. The aim of this study is to investigate the earthquake-related level of knowledge, attitudes and behaviours, general health and psychological status of survivors who were affected by the 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquake and who were living in Nurdağı District of Gaziantep after the earthquake. Methods: Data of 2317 individuals older than 18 years of age who were living in earthquake neighbourhoods, tents and containers in Nurdağı District of Gaziantep were examined. Variables were evaluated to find out the demographic characteristics and general health status of earthquake victims. General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) was used to find out psychological states of earthquake victims. Results: The rate of injuries was 14.2% and leg and foot injuries were the most common with 44.2%. The relationship between injury status; and age, marital status, and being trapped under debris was revealed (p < 0.05). Mean GHQ-12 score of the survivors was 3.81 ± 2.81 and 51.9% experienced psychological distress. In the evaluation with logistic regression, it was found that female gender, being injured in the earthquake, loss of first degree and second degree relatives (with a higher rate in loss of first degree relative), having a severely damaged -to be demolished house and having a completely destroyed house were correlated with higher level of psychological distress (p < 0.05). Conclusion: General characteristics, injury prevalence and affecting factors of earthquake survivors were evaluated in the present study. Psychological distress was found in victims. For this reason, providing protective and assistive services to fight the destructive effects of earthquake is vital. Accordingly, increasing the awareness of people residing in earthquake zones regarding earthquakes is exceptionally important.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of Burnout syndrome (BS) with its emotional exhausting (EE), depersonalization (DP), and personal accomplishment (PA) dimensions among Turkish urologists. Material and methods: A total of 2,259 certified Turkish urologists were invited by e-mail to participate in this cross-sectional survey-based study. An online survey was conducted to evaluate three dimensions of BS ie: -EE, DP and PA-and their association with socio-demographic variables of Turkish urologists using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Results: Of the 2259 urologists contacted, 362 (with a mean age of 44±9.9 years) completed the survey. The mean EE, DP and PA scores were 16.8±8.7, 6.6±4.6 and 8.2±5.6, respectively. Cronbach’s α reliability co-efficiencies were 0.920 for EE, 0.819 for DP and 0.803 for PA. Antidepressant drug usage was quite prevalent among participants (21.9%), and the most common comorbidity was hypertension (13%). The academic title, age, smoking status, monthly income and relationships between colleagues and employers were associated with BS (p<0.05). Conclusion: The prevalence of BS among Turkish urologists is quite prevalent in terms of EE and DP subscales and may negatively affect the psychosocial status and well-being of the urologists. In this study, a high prevalence of BS has been reported among Turkish urologists. In conclusion the BS could become an important occupational and health problem, if it is not properly managed. Aim: Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and Rasch Analysis are commonly used methods to examine the structure of the psychological scales. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the factor structure Turkish version of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory by using statistics based on the Rasch model and CFA.Methods: The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was used for the analysis. Of the study group, 186 (46.5%) were male and 214 (53.5%) were female. Unidimensionality was investigated using a Rasch-based principal component analysis (PCA) of the residuals, chi-square tests, item fit statistics, and other statistics. CFA has also been applied to test the hypothesis of a one-factor solution. Results: The item-trait interaction chi-square statistic was 342.344 for the state scale (p<0.001) and 381.247 for the trait scale (p<0.001). For the state scale, 16.00% of the t-tests for the PCA weresignificant at the 5% level, while 19.50% were significant for the trait scale. The fit residuals of items 4, 8, and 18 on the state scale were over the +2.5 threshold, while the fit residuals of items 23, 24,and 34 on the trait scale were above the +2.5 threshold. Similarly, the scale structure evaluated by CFA was conditioned to be inadequate goodness-of-fit.Conclusion: This study found that neither the trait nor the state scale of the STAI met the unidimensionality assumption. Consequently, both the Rasch analysis and CFA have been verified as succeeding tools in assessing the scale sub-dimensions and determining whether the response items can be utilized for a total scale score.

Background: We aimed to investigate whether the HALP score was a predictor of survival in patients with Glioblastoma (GBM). Methods: A total of 84 Glioblastoma (GBM) patients followed in our clinic were included in the study. HALP scores were calculated using the preoperative hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte and platelet results of the patients. For the HALP score, a cut-off value was found by examining the area below the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Patients were divided into two groups as low and high according to this cut-off value. The relationships among the clinical, dermographic and laboratory parameters of the patients were examined using these two groups. Results: Median OS, PFS, HALP score, NLR, PLR were 15 months (1.0–78.0), 8 months (1.0–66.0), 37.39 ± 23.84 (min 6.00-max 132.31), 4.14, 145.07 respectively. A statistically significant correlation was found between HALP score and OS, PFS, NLR, PLR, ECOG-PS status using Spearman’s rho test (p = 0.001, p < 0.001, p < 0.001, p < 0.001, p = 0.026 respectively). For the HALP score, a cut-off value of = 37.39 (AUC = 0.698, 95% CI, p < 0.002) was found using ROC analysis. Median OS was 12 (6.99–17.01) months in the low HALP group and 21 (11.37–30.63) months in the high HALP group (p = 0.117). NLR and PLR were significantly lower in the HALP high group (p < 0.001, p < 0.001 respectively). The ratio of receiving treatment was significantly higher in the high HALP group (p < 0.05). In Multivariate analysis, significant results were found for treatment status and ECOG-PS status (p < 0.001, p = 0.038 respectively). Conclusions: The HALP score measured at the beginning of treatment seems to have predictive importance in the prognosis of GBM patients. A HALP score of > 37.39 was associated with prolonged survival in high-grade brain tumors.

Background and Objectives: Insufficient margin in lung cancer is associated with an increased locoregional recurrence rate. In pulmonary segmentectomy, two commonly used methods for identifying the intersegmental plane are inflation–deflation and indocyanine green dyeing. The aim of this study was to compare these two methods in terms of quality margins and to evaluate their superiority. Materials and Methods: A total of 63 patients who underwent segmentectomy via video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for pulmonary nodules and underwent preoperative planning with 3D modeling between October 2020 and February 2024 were included in this study. The location of the nodule and the distance to the intersegmental margins were virtually measured preoperatively using an open-source 3D modeling system. Patients were grouped according to the method of identifying the intersegmental margins. Group 1 included segmentectomies performed by the inflation–deflation method (n = 42), and Group 2 included segmentectomies performed by systemic indocyanine green (ICG) injection (n = 21). The area where the histopathological nodule was measured closest to the intersegmental margin was recorded. Values within (+/−10 mm) compared to the value measured in the three-dimensional model were considered successful. The obtained data were statistically compared between the groups. Results: There was no difference between the groups in terms of virtual and pathological margins. However, in terms of margin quality, the rate of deviation detected in the pathological margin compared to the measured virtual margin was significantly different between the groups (p = 0.04). Accordingly, the success rate was 64.3% in Group 1 and 90.5% in Group 2 (p = 0.05). In Group 1, the failure rate was highly against the adjacent parenchyma. There was no significant difference between the groups in the analysis of simple and complex segmentectomies. Conclusions: Intersegmental plane identification with indocyanine green increases the margin quality by defining resection margins closer to the virtual margins. In the inflation–deflation method, unnecessary parenchymal loss occurs due to disadvantages in identifying intersegmental margins.
