Maurice François Gonon is an associate professor at the University of Mons. He has a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées of Lyon (INSA-Lyon), France (1993). He has worked at the University of Limerick, Eire (1994–1995), and at the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons (FPMs), Belgium (1996–1998), as a post-doctoral-researcher, and at INSA-Lyon, France (1999–2001), as a research assistant. He joined the University of Mons in 2001. He is leader of the ceramics and glass-ceramics research unit of the Materials Science department. His interests include the processing and characterization of new materials and the design of functional devices.
