Md Zia Uddin obtained his PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering in February 2011 from Kyung Hee University, South Korea. He is currently a research scientist in the Software and Service Innovation Department, at SINTEF Digital, Oslo, Norway. His research is mainly focused on artificial intelligence, machine learning, pattern recognition, sensors, human–computer interaction, assisted living, etc. He has mostly been exploring and applying machine learning methods on data from a wide range of sources to recognize/predict underlying events such as user mood, behavior, health status, sentiments, etc. He has written more than 130 peer-reviewed research publications, including international conferences, book chapters, and journals. He has more than 2500 Google Scholar citations. Dr. Zia is a senior member of IEEE.
