With the advance of deep learning, the performance of single image super-resolution (SR) has been notably improved by convolution neural network (CNN)-based methods. However, the increasing depth of CNNs makes them more difficult to train, which hinders the SR networks from achieving greater success. To overcome this, a wide range of related mechanisms has been introduced into the SR networks recently, with the aim of helping them converge more quickly and perform better. This has resulted in many research papers that incorporated a variety of attention mechanisms into the above SR baseline from different perspectives. Thus, this survey focuses on this topic and provides a review of these recently published works by grouping them into three major categories: channel attention, spatial attention, and non-local attention. For each of the groups in the taxonomy, the basic concepts are first explained, and then we delve deep into the detailed insights and contributions. Finally, we conclude this review by highlighting the bottlenecks of the current SR attention mechanisms, and propose a new perspective that can be viewed as a potential way to make a breakthrough.

In the process of classifying fresh-cut flowers, the classification accuracy of the algorithm plays a vital role in the control of quality stability, uniformity, and price of fresh-cut flowers, while the classification speed of an algorithm determines the possibility of industrial application. Currently, research on fresh-cut flower classification focuses on the breakthrough of classification accuracy, ignoring the real-time processing speed of the terminal, which seriously affects the use of fresh-cut flower online classification technology. In this study, RGB images and depth information data for 434 rose flowers were collected using a binocular stereo depth camera. Combined with the actual production line classification environment, a set of data argumentation solutions was developed under the condition of limited samples. The architecture was established and optimized based on the ShuffleNet V2 network backbone unit, transfer learning was performed, and an appropriate attention mechanism was invoked to classify flowers of five specifications. The experimental results showed that the proposed network structure had a competitive advantage in terms of parameter quantity, classification speed, and accuracy compared with traditional networks without an attention mechanism and other lightweight networks. The classification accuracy on the 3-channel (RGB channel) flower dataset and the 4-channel (RGB and depth channel) flower datasets were 98.891% and 99.915%, respectively, and the overall prediction classification speed can reach 0.020 seconds per flower. Compared to the fresh-cut flower classification machines currently on the market, the speed of the proposed method has a great advantage. These advantages are of great significance for the design and development of fresh-cut flower classification and grading systems, and the proposed method is instructive for the identification and application of multichannel data in the future.

The acidity of green plum has an important influence on the fruit’s deep processing. Traditional physical and chemical analysis methods for green plum acidity detection are destructive, time-consuming, and unable to achieve online detection. In response, a rapid and non-destructive detection method based on hyperspectral imaging technology was studied in this paper. Research on prediction performance comparisons between supervised learning methods and unsupervised learning methods is currently popular. To further improve the accuracy of component prediction, a new hyperspectral imaging system was developed, and the kernel principle component analysis—linear discriminant analysis—extreme gradient boosting algorithm (KPCA-LDA-XGB) model was proposed to predict the acidity of green plum. The KPCA-LDA-XGB model is a supervised learning model combined with the extreme gradient boosting algorithm (XGBoost), kernel principal component analysis (KPCA), and linear discriminant analysis (LDA). The experimental results proved that the KPCA-LDA-XGB model offers good acidity predictions for green plum, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.829 and a root mean squared error (RMSE) of 0.107 for the prediction set. Compared with the basic XGBoost model, the KPCA-LDA-XGB model showed a 79.4% increase in R and a 31.2% decrease in RMSE. The use of linear, radial basis function (RBF), and polynomial (Poly) kernel functions were also compared and analyzed in this paper to further optimize the KPCA-LDA-XGB model.

The soluble solids content (SSC) affects the flavor of green plums and is an important parameter during processing. In recent years, the hyperspectral technology has been widely used in the nondestructive testing of fruit ingredients. However, the prediction accuracy of most models can hardly be improved further. The rapid development of deep learning technology has established the foundation for the improvement of building models. A new hyperspectral imaging system aimed at measuring the green plum SSC is developed, and a sparse autoencoder (SAE)–partial least squares regression (PLSR) model is combined to further improve the accuracy of component prediction. The results of the experiment show that the SAE–PLSR model, which has a correlation coefficient of 0.938 and root mean square error of 0.654 for the prediction set, can achieve better performance for the SSC prediction of green plums than the three traditional methods. In this paper, integration approaches have combined three different pretreatment methods with PLSR to predict the SSC in green plums. The SAE–PLSR model has shown good prediction performance, indicating that the proposed SAE–PLSR model can effectively detect the SSC in green plums.

In the field of remote sensing scene classification, persistent challenges such as interclass similarity and intraclass diversity-stemming from the inherent complexity of remote sensing scenes-continue to impede progress. Although Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Vision Transformers (ViTs) have both demonstrated commendable performance in this domain, CNNs often struggle to capture global dependencies, while ViTs show deficiencies in extracting localized image features. To overcome these limitations, we designed a transformer network called ACTFormer, which integrates convolution, self-attention, and attention mechanisms. This effectively combines the local feature extraction capability of convolution with the global dependency modeling ability of self-attention. Additionally, in ACTFormer, we designed an Adaptive Focus Attention (AFA) module, which enables the network to focus more precisely and effectively on significant regions while filtering out irrelevant background noise. We also introduce a hybrid loss function (Hybrid-Loss) which combines center loss with cross-entropy loss to further reduce intraclass variance and enhance interclass distinctions. Extensive experiments on three benchmark remote sensing datasets (i.e., AID, NWPU, and UCM) demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method.

Contamination with foreign fibers—such as mulch films and polypropylene strands—during cotton harvesting and processing severely compromises fiber quality. The traditional detection methods often fail to identify fine impurities under visible light, while full-spectrum hyperspectral imaging (HSI) techniques—despite their effectiveness—tend to be prohibitively expensive and computationally intensive. Specifically, the vast amount of redundant spectral information in full-spectrum HSI escalates both the system’s costs and processing challenges. To address these challenges, this study presents an intelligent detection framework that integrates optimized spectral band selection with a lightweight neural network. A novel hybrid Harris Hawks–Whale Optimization Operator (HWOO) is employed to isolate 12 discriminative bands from the original 288 channels, effectively eliminating redundant spectral data. Additionally, a lightweight attention mechanism, combined with a depthwise convolution module, enables real-time inference for online production. The proposed attention-enhanced CNN architecture achieves a 99.75% classification accuracy with real-time processing at 12.201 μs per pixel, surpassing the full-spectrum models by 11.57% in its accuracy while drastically reducing the processing time from 370.1 μs per pixel. This approach not only enables the high-speed removal of impurities in harvested seed cotton production lines but also offers a cost-effective pathway to practical multispectral solutions. Moreover, this methodology demonstrates broad applicability for quality control in agricultural product processing.
