Hyun Joon Kim is a Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Convergence Medical Sciences at the Gyeongsang National University College of Medicine in Jinju, Republic of Korea. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. with honors degrees from Seoul National University, Seoul, and a Ph.D. from the Gyeongsang National University, Jinju, in Republic of Korea. He was recruited as a faculty member at the Gyeongsang National University in 2004, and he expanded his research area from stress response to depression. His major research interests are understanding the underlying mechanisms in depressive behaviors, aging acceleration, and glutamate-glutamine cycle regulation related to glutamatergic signaling under chronic stress.
