Background: Age-associated changes in epidermal hydration, pigmentation, thickness and cell renewal influence skin appearance and can lead to laxity, dryness and poor skin tone. The aim of this pilot study was to assess the synergistic effects of a new bipolar radiofrequency plus non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid (HA) mesotherapy protocol compared with radiofrequency alone on skin appearance and markers of epidermal function. Methods: This prospective, single-center, split-face pilot study recruited women aged 25–65 years with dryness and laxity of the facial skin defined by a trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) value of ≥26 g/m2/h. Subjects were treated with a bipolar radiofrequency device on both sides of the face. This was immediately followed by needle hyaluronic acid (HA) treatment on one side of the face with 2.5 mL of a non-crosslinked HA. Photographic documentation, analysis of epidermal barrier function parameters, and high frequency (HF) ultrasound analysis were performed prior to treatment and at 28 days. Results: Twenty female subjects with a mean age of 46 (range 29 to 54) years and dry and lax facial skin were included. TEWL was reduced and skin hydration improved to a greater extent with the combined radiofrequency plus mesotherapy protocol compared with radiofrequency alone (−5.8% vs. +3.9% and +23.1% vs. +1.0%, respectively). The combined protocol was also associated with greater improvements in melanin (−7.5% vs. −1.5%) and erythema values (−7.2% vs. +3.0%), respectively. Ultrasound measures of epidermal thickness and epidermal density were greater after the combined protocol compared with radiofrequency alone (12.0% vs. 5.6% and 57.7% vs. 7.1%, respectively). Both treatments were well-tolerated. Conclusions: The combined bipolar radiofrequency and HA mesotherapy protocol provided greater improvements in skin hydration, firmness and tone compared with radiofrequency alone. The combination treatment was also associated with greater epidermal thickness and density and increased keratinocyte differentiation suggesting a synergistic effect of both treatments on epidermal homeostasis and barrier function. Both treatments were well-tolerated and led to improvements in facial appearance.

Purpose: This prospective, single-center, open-label study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 1470 nm non-ablative laser therapy in treating facial acne scars. The primary objective was to assess improvements in skin texture, elasticity, and scar depth and diameter, while confirming the absence of significant adverse effects. Patients and Methods: 40 healthy female volunteers aged 18 to 42 years with facial acne scars underwent three sessions of 1470 nm laser therapy at two-week intervals. Outcome measures included cutometric assessments, high-frequency ultrasound evaluations, and clinical photographic documentation, conducted at baseline and on days 21, 42, 70, and 130 post-treatment. Results: Significant improvements were observed across all evaluated parameters. Skin elasticity increased progressively from baseline (mean: 62.95, SD=4.0) to day 21 (63.72, SD=3.8, +4%), day 42 (67.11, SD=4.0, +6%), day 70 (69.08, SD=4.2, +11%), and day 130 (70.80, SD=4.4, +14%; p< 0.001). High-frequency ultrasound measurements revealed substantial reductions in scar depth, which decreased by 5% at day 21 (mean: 0.18 mm, SD=0.05, p< 0.001), 20% at day 42 (0.15 mm, SD=0.055, p< 0.001), 48% at day 70 (0.10 mm, SD=0.06, p< 0.001), and 63% at day 130 (0.07 mm, SD=0.065, p< 0.001). Scar diameter followed a similar trend, with reductions of 16% at day 21 (3.08 mm, SD=0.3, p< 0.001), 26% at day 42 (2.71 mm, SD=0.34, p< 0.001), 42% at day 70 (2.13 mm, SD=0.36, p< 0.001), and 62% at day 130 (1.39 mm, SD=0.38, p< 0.001). Clinical photographic evaluations corroborated these quantitative findings, showing visible improvements in scar appearance and overall skin texture. No adverse events were reported throughout the study. Conclusion: The 1470 nm non-ablative laser therapy demonstrated high efficacy and safety in the treatment of acne scars, delivering substantial therapeutic benefits and high patient satisfaction, offering a valuable therapeutic option for addressing both pigmentation and textural issues associated with acne scars.

Striae distensae (SD), or stretch marks, are a common aesthetic concern with limited effective treatment options. This prospective, single-center, open-label study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 1470 nm non-ablative laser therapy in improving skin texture and reducing SD dimensions. Twenty healthy female volunteers (aged 19–56) with SD of varying stages underwent three laser sessions at three-week intervals. Treatments were delivered using energy densities of 28–35 mJ per point with spot spacing of 0.8–1.2 mm, uniformly delivered over the affected SD lesions. Assessments were performed at baseline, Day 14, Day 35, Day 56–70, and Day 118–132. SD depth and width were measured using high-frequency ultrasound; aesthetic improvement was assessed using the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS), alongside clinical and photographic evaluations. A statistically significant, progressive reduction in SD size was observed: mean depth decreased from 0.34 mm (SD = 0.16) to 0.18 mm (SD = 0.15), and width decreased from 6.58 mm (SD = 2.65) to 4.40 mm (SD = 2.52) by Day 118–132 (p < 0.01 for both). Most participants reported improvement on GAIS at each follow-up. No severe adverse events occurred; only mild, transient erythema and edema were noted. In conclusion, 1470 nm non-ablative laser therapy showed significant efficacy and a favorable safety profile in SD treatment, offering a promising non-invasive option based on fractional thermal stimulation and selective dermal absorption.

Objectives: To evaluate the cellular and clinical responses to facial treatment using a wide-spectrum, long-pulse infrared medical device. Methods: Thirty patients with facial skin laxity and photodamage underwent a single treatment session with the infrared device. Skin biopsies were collected before treatment and on days 5 and 21 for histological and immunohistochemical assessments of inflammatory and regenerative changes. Long-term outcomes were analyzed by biomechanical measurements (cutometry) and collagen autofluorescence quantification from histological samples. Results: Histological analysis demonstrated a 40% increase in fibroblast count, angiogenesis, and mild inflammatory activity, though these changes did not reach statistical significance. Cutometric evaluation revealed a significant improvement in skin elasticity at day 21 (+15.97%) and day 150 (+24.49%) post-treatment, accompanied by a modest increase in hydration. Collagen autofluorescence showed a statistically significant enhancement, consistent with ECM remodeling and fibroblast activation. Conclusions: A single session of treatment with a wide-spectrum, long-pulse infrared device produced measurable improvements in dermal elasticity and collagen organization with minimal inflammatory response. These findings support the efficacy and safety of infrared energy-based therapy as a noninvasive modality for facial skin rejuvenation.

Background: Non-surgical procedures utilizing microcurrent radiofrequency (RF) represent a non-invasive option for patients experiencing skin laxity and loss of firmness due to aging, hormonal changes, or weight fluctuations. Such treatments benefit individuals seeking both preventive measures to delay visible aging and corrective approaches to improve existing skin laxity without invasive surgery. The Plasma IQ medical device generates microcurrent RF energy that produces controlled heating, leading to targeted tissue ablation and subsequent remodelling. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Plasma IQ in the treatment of skin laxity. Materials and Methods: Thirty patients presenting with facial skin laxity and photodamage underwent treatment with the Plasma IQ device. Clinical outcomes were assessed prior to the procedure and at 7, 21 and 90 days post-treatment. Results: RF treatment produced a measurable improvement in skin elasticity (+22.51%). The distance between the upper eyelid margin and the beginning of the eyelid fold increased by 2.01 mm (+46.94%) at day 21 and by 2.11 mm (+49.11%) at day 90. Conclusions: Microcurrent RF delivered by the Plasma IQ device is an effective non-invasive method for periocular skin rejuvenation. The treatment improves skin elasticity, reduces wrinkles around the eyes, and increases the visible distance between the upper eyelid margin and fold, thereby enhancing upper eyelid definition.

Acne vulgaris affects approximately 80% of individuals between the ages of 11 and 30 and often results in persistent acne scarring that can negatively impact psychosocial well-being, leading to anxiety and reduced self-esteem. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and clinical outcomes associated with the use of PEG-crosslinked hyaluronic acid with calcium hydroxyapatite in patients with facial acne scars. Twenty healthy female volunteers (aged 18–42) underwent a single session combining subcision with a 22G cannula and the simultaneous administration of 2 mL of PEG-crosslinked hyaluronic acid with calcium hydroxyapatite. Participants with recent retinoid use, excessive tanning, or relevant medical conditions were excluded. Skin elasticity, scar depth, and scar diameter were measured at baseline and on days 28 and 90 after treatment. Significant improvements in skin texture and a visible reduction in acne scars were observed. Cutometric analysis demonstrated increased skin elasticity, while high-frequency ultrasound imaging showed an average 21% reduction in scar diameter and a 61% reduction in scar depth by day 90. No adverse effects were reported. A single session combining subcision with a 22G cannula and the simultaneous administration of PEG-crosslinked hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyapatite was shown to be safe and to be associated with clinically and instrumentally observed improvements. The filler provides temporary volumization of atrophic or thinned facial soft tissues, resulting in visible aesthetic improvement and favorable patient-reported outcomes. These findings support the potential role of this minimally invasive approach in the management of patients with acne scars.
