Rocco Di Girolamo is Associate Professor of Industrial Chemistry at Department of Chemical Science at the University of Naples Federico II, where he teaches Synthesis of Polymers and Polymeric Formulations within the degree courses in Industrial Chemistry and Sciences and Technologies of Industrial Chemistry. He graduated with honors in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Naples Federico II and at the same University he obtained the title of PhD in Chemistry in December 2010. RDG is author of 114 scientific publications on international journals more than 1790 citations and an H-index = 21.
His research activities concern: 1) synthesis and the characterization of semi-crystalline polymeric materials, 2) the study of polymer matrix nanocomposites and inorganic nanoparticles for applications in nanotechnologies, 3) development of methods to obtain ordered nanostructures from block copolymers, 4) study of the structure s and morphology of polymeric materials by different techniques such as WAXS, SAXS, TEM, SEM, AFM etc. Dr. Di Girolamo carried out part of his research activities abroad as visiting scientist at the Charles Sadron Institute in Strasbourg (FR) in collaboration with Prof. Bernard Lotz and at Cornell University (USA) in collaboration with the Prof. Geoffrey Cappotti. He was awarded the Newcomb Cleveland Prize 2017 - AAAS for the best article published in Science in 2017.
