Dr. Franco Cicirelli received his Ph.D. degree in system engineering and computer science from the University of Calabria, Rende, Italy. He has been a Researcher with ICAR-CNR—Institute for High Performance Computing and Networking—National Research Council of Italy since 2016. He was a Research Fellow with the University of Calabria, from 2006 to 2015. His research mainly focuses on software engineering tools and methodologies for the modeling, analysis, and implementation of complex time-dependent systems. His current research interests include agent-based systems, distributed simulation, parallel and distributed systems, real-time systems, workflow management systems, the Internet of Things, and cyber-physical systems. His research activities involve also Petri nets, timed automata, and the DEVS formalism.
