Valerio Magnaghi obtained his Degree in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Technologies at the University of Milan, Italy, in 1993; his PhD in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Milan in 2000; his Postgraduate Degree in Experimental Endocrinology at the University of Milan in 2000. He was fellow at the National Institute of Cancer of Milan, Italy, in 1993-1994 and fellow at the Institute Cajal, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas, Madrid, Spain, in 1996 and 2000. In 2001, he was enrolled as Postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Endocrinology, University of Milan, and then he obtained the Assistant Professor position (2001) at the University of Milan. In 2003 he was Visiting Scientist at Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience, University of Dundee, Scotland. He was awarded the "Galeno Prize 2003" in Pharmaceutical Science and the "Sapio Prize 2004, in the section for Society and Health” for Italian research. In 2016, he obtained the Associate Professor position at the University of Milan. His main scientific interests are the role of neurotransmitters and neurosteroids on the neuron-glial cross-talk in the central and peripheral nervous system.
