Francisco Leitão (FL) is a fisheries-marine ecologist
specialized in climate change and fisheries. After an 4-year graduation (1999)
it was invited to work in Portuguese National fisheries Institute (IPIMAR). FL
post-grad in GIS (2003) and did the master's in marine Ecology (2004). PhD in
Marine sciences and Populations Dynamic in 2009. After the PhD FL was invited
to work as scientific coordinator UNESCO-International Center of ECOHYDROLOGY.
In middle 2010 FL join Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR). In 2010 It awards a
1st posdoc international posdoc (Norway Institute of Marine Research) and a 2nd
international post-doc a in 2016 (University of Vancouver) both pos-docs in CC
-fisheries. FL is closed linked to international organization/multidisciplinary
researchers on climate change and fisheries science. In 2018 FL was invited to
lecture in University of Algarve. FL is coordinator of ECOREACH group at CCMAR.
Currently, Dr. Leitão is a Researcher at the Centre of Marine Research, Faro
University. Dr. Leitão's research interests are in the area of marine resources
dynamics of aquatic ecosystems under the scope of climate change and
variability (Ecosystem-based approach). His research aims to provide a sound
basis for assessing the vulnerability of coastal fisheries and marine
ecosystems/ecology to climate changes and predicting the effect of short- to
long-term climatic changes on the productivity, fisheries dynamics, and
distribution of coastal stocks and fisheries.
