The smart city concept is a comprehensive approach to the functioning of the urban region. It concerns various areas of life such as culture, infrastructure, environment, energy, and social services. Public perceptions of the smart city concept are not commonly addressed. The aim of this paper is to examine perceptions of the smart city concept among inhabitants, doing so through a case study focusing on the city of Žilina in Slovakia. The methodology that the researchers applied includes primary research and surveys as well as secondary research. Based on the analysis of the environment and the results of the survey, opportunities for the development of a ‘Smart City Žilina’ concept are identified. There is a growing interest in green solutions among the inhabitants of Žilina. A significant number of respondents indicated their support for intelligent waste collection and renewable energy sources. And they were also supportive of green roofs. The update of the strategy must consider a number of steps in waste management, from collection to transport, with a view to the overall recovery of the waste generated. As part of the smart city concept and projects, the public administration and the municipality must communicate effectively with the public. This will require specific approaches and tactical decisions for optimal success.

Eco-innovation presents a tool that helps companies to transform environmental constraints into opportunities and advantages such as cost reduction, better reputation, and benefit for new markets. The purpose of the paper is to evaluate the perception of eco-innovation and green brands in the context of sustainability in Slovakia and their mutual relation. The applied research focused on the perception of eco-innovation and green brands. The survey was realized by the Kano model that provides customers’ opinions regarding the requirements of the monitored object. In our case, the research object is ecological innovation evaluated in terms of selected parameters. To generalize the relationships among examined parameters, cluster analysis was applied to identify clusters of examined parameters of ecological innovations. The aim of the contribution is to present the output of the cluster analysis in a form of a dendrogram showing a graphical grouping of related objects in three clusters that include examined parameters according to their perception by customers.

Rapid changes in technology, integration and specialization of individual economies reinforce trade motives and the consequences of integration into the world trade system. The Visegrad countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) have undergone fundamental structural changes in recent years, characterized at the turn of the century mainly by the opening of the economy and the influx of foreign direct investment into the industry. They are currently classified as high-income countries. Developments in the trade in services in these countries indicate changes in the business environment, firms and the challenge of improving their position on the international market. Visegrad countries belong to highly open economies, because of its heavy dependence on foreign trade and considerable sensitivity to the global economic environment. Each of these countries represents a small internal market, which is unable to cover the raw material requirements and is substantially dependent on the export of domestic production to foreign markets. The discussion of the assessment of the development of foreign trade in business services of Visegrad countries and identification of the presence of their comparative advantages is the object of the contribution. International trade in services in the V4 countries increased by 7% on the export side in 2013–2016, on the import side it decreased by 0.85%, of which trade in business and management consulting and public relations services increased by 76% on the side export and 53% in import. Trade in services, in spite of the V4 membership of the EU28 and the single market, is under constant pressure from a variety of factors, including pressures of associations, interest associations or groups. Three of the V4 countries are not members of the Euro area, and the use of national currencies and their own monetary policy also affects international trade in the trade in services.

Two important trends can be identified in the world economy. First, technological innovations are becoming an increasingly important contributor to economic well-being. Secondly, citizens are becoming more open and independent, and able to obtain information, products, and services worldwide. Rapid changes in technology reinforce trade motives and the consequences of integration into the world trade system. In this context, the importance of trade in services, the share of services in GDP and value added in individual economies are increasing. Imports and exports are among the basic foreign trade activities that enable us to obtain utility values from abroad or to supply them abroad. These activities reflect the advantages and disadvantages of individual economies. They also reflect government policy. The aim of this paper is to point out the state and basic trends in trade in transport services in relation to trade in services and trade in transport services. OECD 2018 statistics are used to identify the status and underlying trends in trade in services and their components.

The development of a company significantly influences its final value. The value of a transport company can be determined for various legal acts, which also influence the selection of valuation methods. The view of the transport company may differ, depending on whether it is seen by investors or the company owners. Methods of evaluating a transport company, but also of all companies in expert practice, usually follow methodological procedures outlined in the legal standards. These methods are based on basic principles, namely the asset principle, the yield principle, the combined principle, and the market principle. These principles also include other methods of determining the company's value. Each method has its own specifics, a modification of only one model parameter changes the entire company value. The aim of this paper is to analyze the input data and their impact on the value of the transport company from the perspective of various methods. The paper shows the impact of the change in the rate of capitalization and g - the sustainable growth rate and the significant impact of the continuing value on the general value of the company.

The value of a company is influenced by many factors. It depends on how we evaluate the methods we use and what data we have for the calculation. It is also important for what purpose we will calculate the company value. However, the company's management decisions, their strategy and overall direction have a significant impact on the value of the business. In the article we will deal with the impact on the value of a business's optimization of the company's transport network. Also, whether optimization affects more revenue method or equity method.

This paper situates the process of economic sustainability in the wider context of regional specialization and geographic concentration. The main object is to analyze the implications of increasing importance of sustainable development. In this context, the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is at the same time a part of the problem and solution. The focus of this paper is also the ICT firms themselves. This research aimed to explore the ICT firms operating in the ICT sector and focused more on the ICT firms’ sustainability in connection with industry geographic concentration and regional specialization. The economic sustainability (evaluated by sustainability sub-index) and geographical and regional analysis were studied for 62 Computer Programming and 63 Information Services sub-divisions of the ICT sector. The results confirm a strong correlation between economic sustainability and firm geographic concentration. Results show that a worsening value of economic sustainability does not always lead to the worsening conditions in the industry and there is a strong relationship between the economic sustainability and regional analysis.

The value of company is a very broad concept. Its determination depends on many factors and valuer must take into account both internal and external factors which are affecting the company. In some cases, it is very difficult to decide which of the methods should be used so that the entire valuation is not unnecessarily overpriced for the contracting entity. Valuation also takes into account the resulting objective value. In the case where the choice of method is not determined by the legal act itself, consultation and agreement with the expert is necessary in order to clarify the state of the company and determine the reason for doing the valuation itself. Therefore, the main goal of this paper is to choose an appropriate valuation method for a forwarding company.
