PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology (2007), NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal. Dr. Brito was the Head of the Bioassay Development Team from 2009 to 2014 and, since then, she is the Group Leader of the Advanced Cell Models Laboratory at iBET (www.ibet.pt) and ITQB (www.itqb.unl.pt). Her work aims the development of advanced human cell models (employing induced pluripotent stem cells and other patient-derived cells) to target deregulation of cellular microenvironment in disease and evaluate its role in therapeutic response. The main research interests are Central Nervous System diseases and Cancer (solid tumours). Dr. Brito has published over 70 papers; 7 book chapters; 1 patent; receiving a total of over 2000 citations (h-index 25). Dr. Brito is responsible for the supervision of 14 PhD students (8 concluded), 14 Master students (12 concluded) and 8 post-doc fellows. Dr. Brito was awarded with the Scientific Merit Prize of New University of Lisbon in 2015.
