Background/Objectives: Breast cancer remains the most common malignancy among women worldwide, with many patients experiencing persistent psychological symptoms that extend beyond active treatment. Among these, sleep disturbances, anxiety, and depression frequently co-occur and can significantly impair quality of life and treatment adherence. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of poor sleep quality and examine its associations with anxiety and depression in a large cohort of Turkish women with breast cancer. Additionally, the study sought to identify sociodemographic and clinical predictors of sleep disturbance. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 601 women with histologically confirmed breast cancer who were undergoing or had completed active treatment were recruited from a tertiary oncology center in Turkey between January 2023 and December 2023. The mean age of participants was 54 years (range 25–83). More than half of the patients were postmenopausal (56.3%), and 6% had stage IV disease. Sleep quality and psychological distress were assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Descriptive statistics, correlation analyses, and multivariate regression models were employed to identify significant predictors. Results: Poor sleep quality (PSQI > 5) was identified in 33.2% of participants. Patients with poor sleep reported significantly higher anxiety and depression scores (p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis revealed that being single, having children, undergoing breast-conserving surgery, and elevated anxiety scores were independent predictors of poor sleep. Additionally, marital status, menopausal status, and treatment modality were significantly associated with anxiety and depression scores. Conclusions: One-third of Turkish breast cancer patients experience clinically relevant sleep disturbances, which are strongly linked to psychological distress, particularly anxiety. These findings underscore the importance of incorporating routine psychological screening into oncologic care and highlight the need for individualized psychosocial support strategies that aim to improve both emotional well-being and overall clinical outcomes.

Background: Cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 (CDK4/6) inhibitors have become a cornerstone in the treatment of HR+/HER2- advanced breast cancer. While their efficacy is well-established, emerging reports of nephrotoxicity warrant further investigation into its incidence, risk factors, and potential impact on survival outcomes. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the incidence and risk factors for nephrotoxicity in patients receiving CDK4/6 inhibitors (palbociclib or ribociclib) and to analyze its association with progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Design: This was a single-center, retrospective cohort study. Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 120 patients with advanced breast cancer treated with palbociclib or ribociclib between October 2018 and July 2024. Nephrotoxicity was defined as a ⩾20% decline in creatinine clearance (CKD-EPI 2021) from baseline. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, t-tests, Kaplan–Meier survival analysis, and Cox regression models. Results: Nephrotoxicity occurred in 28 patients (23.3%). Older age (⩾65 years) and higher baseline urea and creatinine levels were significant risk factors ( p < 0.001). Paradoxically, patients who developed nephrotoxicity showed a trend toward better survival outcomes: median PFS was 30 months versus 20 months ( p = 0.188), and the 3-year OS rate was 77.9% versus 63.8% ( p = 0.801), though these differences were not statistically significant. In multivariate Cox analysis, the development of nephrotoxicity showed a trend toward a 71% reduction in mortality risk (HR = 0.293, p = 0.078), but it was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Nephrotoxicity is relatively common in patients treated with CDK4/6 inhibitors, particularly in older individuals and those with elevated baseline renal parameters. Contrary to conventional expectations, its occurrence may be associated with a trend toward improved survival, possibly reflecting higher drug exposure or effective target inhibition. These findings highlight the need for careful renal monitoring and suggest that nephrotoxicity could serve as a potential surrogate marker for treatment efficacy, warranting validation in larger prospective studies.

Objective: Gynecological malignancies in women may be accompanied by metastatic/second primary gastrointestinal system cancer at the time of diagnosis. Recognition of gastrointestinal system involvement may change the treatment approach. Therefore, we aimed to detect and evaluate the gastr oscop y–col onosc opy findings performed in patients who had been diagnosed with gynecological malignancies in our clinic. Methods: Results of gastr oscop y–col onosc opies performed on patients with a diagnosis of gynecological malignancy in Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital Gastroenterology Department between June 2014 and September 2021 were reviewed retrospectively. Female patients who underwent gastr oscop y–col onosc opy due to iron deficiency anemia during the same period were selected as the control group. Results: The mean age of the patient population was 64.03, and the mean age of the control population was 62.1. All the patients were female. In our study group, there were 76 patients with gynecological malignancy. The control group included 79 patients who had iron deficiency anemia. As a result of gastros-copy, 10.56% of the study group was diagnosed with concomitant malignancy against 1.26% in the control group (P < .05). While the rate of cases diagnosed with lower gastrointestinal system malignancy after colonoscopy in the patient group was 9.21%, the same rate was found to be 1.26% in the control group (P < .05). Conclusion: We think that routine gastr oscop y–col onosc opic evaluation is necessary before treatment in women diagnosed with gynecological malignancy.
