Platforms have been considered as a paradigm for managing new product development and innovation. Since their introduction, studies on platforms have introduced multiple conceptualizations, leading to a fragmentation of research and different perspectives. By systematically reviewing the platform literature and combining bibliometric and content analyses, this paper examines the platform concept and its evolution, proposes a thematic classification, and highlights emerging trends in the literature. Based on this hybrid methodological approach (bibliometric and content analyses), the results show that platform research has primarily focused on issues that are mainly related to firms' internal aspects, such as innovation, modularity, commonality, and mass customization. Moreover, scholars have recently started to focus on new research themes, including managerial questions related to capability building, strategy, and ecosystem building based on platforms. As its main contributions, this paper improves the understanding of and clarifies the evolutionary trajectory of the platform concept, and identifies trends and emerging themes to be addressed in future studies.

Compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or related laws by organizations could require organizational and technological changes. This topic has gained significant attention from management and scholars alike. Although the literature presents some reviews and research articles discussing challenges and enablers for GDPR compliance, they are often scattered and fragmented. One particular challenge is the implementation roadmap gap that arises when using ISO-based standards for compliance in isolation. On the other hand, as enablers for compliance, it raises the potential use of information governance (IG) and enterprise architecture management (EAM) disciplines. This research aims to provide a systematic literature review of the challenges and enablers for GDPR compliance and address this gap. The findings include a categorized list of challenges and enablers, a strategy for bridging the roadmap gap using IG and EAM, and the development of five propositions based on some challenges and enablers around this gap. Moreover, the study proposes a research agenda that includes conceptual work to build an IG-EAM framework, empirical research to verify those propositions, and developing new hypotheses stemming from the review’s challenges and enablers. These contributions could enhance both the body of knowledge and managerial privacy practices.

Benford Law (BL) states that the occurrence of significant digits in many natural and human phenomena data sets are not uniformly scattered, as one could naively expect, but follow a logarithmic-type distribution. Here, we present a method that consists of the use of BL analysis over first and first-two digits, three statistical conformity tests – Z-statistics, Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD) and Chi-square (χ2) as well as the summation test which looks for excessively large numbers, having fraud detection as one of its application. We developed the method for fraud detection in the case of the Brazilian Bolsa Familia welfare program. In this case, we submitted four periods of Brazilian welfare program payments to the method with a dataset of 13,442,529 records. We provide a practical implementation of the method based on open-source R library released on a public repository. Furthermore, code implementation of the algorithm as well as datasets are freely available. Advantages of the algorithm are listed below:
