Dr. Hilario Hernández-Moreno earned his BSc in Aeronautical Engineering and his MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), Mexico City, in 1996 and 2002, respectively. He also earned his MSc in Aeronautical and Space Techniques from ISAE-SUPAERO in 1997, and his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III, Toulouse, France, in 2006, with the topic: Structural integrity monitoring of cylindrical shells from manufacturing to final failure using embedded fiber optic sensors. Since 1998, he has worked as a researcher at the Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica (ESIME), Ticomán Campus, Instituto Politécnico Nacional of Mexico, Mexico City. He co-founded, among others, the Research and Engineering Group in Advanced and Composite Materials (GIIMAC), dedicated to research and problem-solving in composite structures and materials. He is also part of the Aerospace Materials and Structures branch of the ESIME's aerospace graduate programs. His research interests are composite structures with aerospace and industrial applications, focusing on the analysis and design of composite structures, physical-mechanical characterization, and the design of testing devices for composite structures.
