A new algorithm called maximum correntropy unscented Kalman filter (MCUKF) is proposed and applied to relative state estimation in space communication networks. As is well known, the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) provides an efficient tool to solve the non-linear state estimate problem. However, the UKF usually plays well in Gaussian noises. Its performance may deteriorate substantially in the presence of non-Gaussian noises, especially when the measurements are disturbed by some heavy-tailed impulsive noises. By making use of the maximum correntropy criterion (MCC), the proposed algorithm can enhance the robustness of UKF against impulsive noises. In the MCUKF, the unscented transformation (UT) is applied to obtain a predicted state estimation and covariance matrix, and a nonlinear regression method with the MCC cost is then used to reformulate the measurement information. Finally, the UT is adopted to the measurement equation to obtain the filter state and covariance matrix. Illustrative examples demonstrate the superior performance of the new algorithm.

Spectrum sensing is important for a cognitive radio (CR) system to protect primary users (PUs) from harmful interference. At present, most of the existing sensing schemes are proposed in Gaussian noise environments. Nevertheless, a CR system actually also suffers from non-Gaussian noise, such as man-made impulsive noise, ultrawideband interference and co-channel interference. In this article, to handle the degradation of detection performance in non-Gaussian impulsive noise environments, a robust spectrum sensing scheme named hyperbolic tangent-based energy detector (HT-ED) is proposed. The hyperbolic tangent function is applied to suppress the impulsive noise by the nonlinear behavior, but without restraining the normal noise by the linear behavior. This property enables the new method to achieve the good detection performance in both Gaussian and non-Gaussian noise environments. In addition, it is similar to an energy detector, the new detector does not need to know the characteristics of the PU’s signal. The performance analysis of the proposed HT-ED scheme is also presented. The simulation results show the HT-ED is robust against impulsive noise, which is modeled as Laplace or $\alpha$ -stable noise. Moreover, the HT-ED provides a superior detection performance compared with the other existing relative methods in a wide range of non-Gaussian noise.
Correntropy has been proved to be effective in eliminating the adverse effects of impulsive noises in adaptive filtering. However, correntropy is not desirable when the error between the two random variables is asymmetrically distributed around zero. To address this problem, asymmetric correntropy using an asymmetric Gaussian function as the kernel function was proposed. However, an asymmetric Gaussian function is not always the best choice and can be further expanded. In this paper, we propose a robust adaptive filtering based on a more flexible definition of asymmetric correntropy, which is called generalized asymmetric correntropy that adopts a generalized asymmetric Gaussian density (GAGD) function as the kernel. With the shape parameter properly selected, the generalized asymmetric correntropy may get better performance than the original asymmetric correntropy. The steady-state performance of the adaptive filter based on the generalized maximum asymmetric correntropy criterion (GMACC) is theoretically studied and verified by simulation experiments. The asymmetric characteristics of queue delay in satellite networks is analyzed and described, and the proposed algorithm is used to predict network delay, which is essential in space telemetry. Simulation results demonstrate the desirable performance of the new algorithm.
Network function virtualization (NFV) is a key technology to decouple hardware device and software function. Several virtual network functions (VNFs) combine into a function sequence in a certain order, that is defined as service function chain (SFC). A significant challenge is guaranteeing reliability. First, deployment server is selected to place VNF, then, backup server is determined to place the VNF as a backup which is running when deployment server is failed. Moreover, how to determine the accurate locations dynamically with machine learning is challenging. This paper focuses on resource requirements of SFC to measure its priority meanwhile calculates node priority by current resource capacity and node degree, then, a novel priority-awareness deep reinforcement learning (PA-DRL) algorithm is proposed to implement reliable SFC dynamically. PA-DRL determines the backup scheme of each VNF, then, the model jointly utilizes delay, load balancing of network as feedback factors to optimize the quality of service. In the experimental results, resource efficient utilization, survival rate, and load balancing of PA-DRL were improved by 36.7%, 35.1%, and 78.9% on average compared with benchmark algorithm respectively, average delay was reduced by 14.9%. Therefore, PA-DRL can effectively improve reliability and optimization targets compared with other benchmark methods.
