In this paper, we present a novel compression method based on partial differential equations complemented by block sorting and symbol prediction. Block sorting is performed using the Burrows–Wheeler transform, while symbol prediction is performed using the context mixing method. With these transformations, the range coder is used as a lossless compression method. The objective and subjective quality evaluation of the reconstructed image illustrates the efficiency of this new compression method and is compared with the current standards, JPEG and JPEG 2000.

Thermography is probably the most used method of measuring surface temperature by analyzing radiation in the infrared part of the spectrum which accuracy depends on factors such as emissivity and reflected radiation. Contrary to popular belief that thermographic images represent temperature maps, they are actually thermal radiation converted into an image, and if not properly calibrated, they show incorrect temperatures. The objective of this study is to analyze commonly used image processing techniques and their impact on radiometric data in thermography. In particular, the extent to which a thermograph can be considered as an image and how image processing affects radiometric data. Three analyzes are presented in the paper. The first one examines how image processing techniques, such as contrast and brightness, affect physical reality and its representation in thermographic imaging. The second analysis examines the effects of JPEG compression on radiometric data and how degradation of the data varies with the compression parameters. The third analysis aims to determine the optimal resolution increase required to minimize the effects of compression on the radiometric data. The output from an IR camera in CSV format was used for these analyses, and compared to images from the manufacturer’s software. The IR camera providing data in JPEG format was used, and the data included thermographic images, visible images, and a matrix of thermal radiation data. The study was verified with a reference blackbody radiation set at 60 °C. The results highlight the dangers of interpreting thermographic images as temperature maps without considering the underlying radiometric data which can be affected by image processing and compression. The paper concludes with the importance of accurate and precise thermographic analysis for reliable temperature measurement.

Panoramic radiography remains a cornerstone diagnostic tool in dentistry; however, its two-dimensional nature limits the visualisation of complex maxillofacial anatomy. Three-dimensional reconstruction from single panoramic images addresses this limitation by computationally generating spatial representations without additional radiation exposure or expensive cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans. This systematic review and conceptual study traces the evolution of 3D reconstruction approaches, from classical geometric and statistical shape models to modern artificial intelligence-based methods, including convolutional neural networks, generative adversarial networks, and neural implicit fields such as Occudent and NeBLa. Deep learning frameworks demonstrate superior accuracy in reconstructing dental and jaw structures compared to traditional techniques. Building on these advancements, this paper proposes HoloDent3D, a theoretical framework that combines AI-driven panoramic reconstruction with real-time holographic visualisation. The system enables interactive, radiation-free volumetric inspection for diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient education. Despite significant progress, persistent challenges include limited paired 2D–3D datasets, generalisation across anatomical variability, and clinical validation. Continued integration of multimodal data fusion, temporal modelling, and holographic visualisation is expected to accelerate the clinical translation of AI-based 3D reconstruction systems in digital dentistry.

This paper investigates the application of large language models (LLMs) in the domain of dietary advice, focusing on the recognition of ingredients and nutritional values from food products and the integration of this information into a system capable of delivering personalized recommendations. The research involved the development of a mobile application utilizing React Native and Python Flask frameworks. Optical character recognition (OCR) was implemented through the docTR model to extract nutritional information and ingredients from product images. Based on the extracted data and user profiles stored in a Firestore database, the system generates tailored dietary advice employing OpenAI’s GPT-3.5-turbo model. The findings demonstrate the feasibility of using LLMs to provide personalized dietary recommendations, thereby opening new opportunities in the digital transformation of nutrition and dietary planning.

Geospatial data analysis systems are currently very relevant. Most such systems use either relational databases or graph databases. This paper presents the idea of using both approaches, taking into account the main features and advantages of each. A concrete example of a city transport network is used to experimentally examine the use of this hybrid approach. A special ETL procedure was developed to transform data from the corresponding graph database to a relational one, as well as the reverse process from the relational to the graph database. The results show which type of queries are better suited for relational databases, and which for graph databases. Additionally, for certain specific queries and applications, neither database type is capable of providing any results. Although this kind of hybrid architecture has issues with data duplication, the performance gains achieved are significant, making this approach highly efficient.
