In this paper, the design of an impulsive observer–based control, for a class of nonlinear systems with time–varying uncertainties, is proposed based on the LMI framework. The nonlinearities under consideration are assumed to satisfy local Lipschitz conditions. The observer uses sampled measurements of the system output. A time–varying Lyapunov function is used to give sufficient conditions for the existence of the impulsive observer–based control. The observer and controller gain can be obtained through feasible solutions of the LMIs proposed. The scheme presented here demonstrates that mathematically and through simulation, the proposed approach properly estimates and stabilizes all states.

Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) is an important problem to solve in robotics theory in order to build truly autonomous mobile robots. This work presents a novel method for implementing a SLAM system based on a single camera sensor. The SLAM with a single camera, or monocular SLAM, is probably one of the most complex SLAM variants. In this case, a single camera, which is freely moving through its environment, represents the sole sensor input to the system. The sensors have a large impact on the algorithm used for SLAM. Cameras are used more frequently, because they provide a lot of information and are well adapted for embedded systems: they are light, cheap and power-saving. Nevertheless, and unlike range sensors, which provide range and angular information, a camera is a projective sensor providing only angular measurements of image features. Therefore, depth information (range) cannot be obtained in a single step. In this case, special techniques for feature system-initialization are needed in order to enable the use of angular sensors (as cameras) in SLAM systems. The main contribution of this work is to present a novel and robust scheme for incorporating and measuring visual features in filtering-based monocular SLAM systems. The proposed method is based in a two-step technique, which is intended to exploit all the information available in angular measurements. Unlike previous schemes, the values of parameters used by the initialization technique are derived directly from the sensor characteristics, thus simplifying the tuning of the system. The experimental results show that the proposed method surpasses the performance of previous schemes.
In this work a robust nested sliding mode block control is designed for a class of nonlinear systems with unknown matched and unmatched perturbations. It is well known that sliding mode is robust against matched perturbations. In order to enhance this robustness property, a novel nested sliding mode procedure is proposed. The performance of the designed controller has been tested considering an induction motor with unknown load torque and varying stator and rotor resistances, where the only information are the estimation of the upper bounds with respect to the nominal values.
In this letter, a robust quantized sampled-data controller is provided for a class of nonlinear systems affected by time-varying uncertainties, actuation disturbances and measurement noises. Sufficient conditions based on linear matrix inequalities and ensuring the existence of the proposed robust quantized sampled-data controller are given. Quantization of both state measurements and input signals is simultaneously considered. Input-to-state stability redesign technique is used in order to attenuate the effects of bounded actuation disturbances and of bounded observation errors. It is proved that, under suitably fast sampling and accurate quantization of the input/output channels, the proposed controller achieves the semi-global practical stability, with arbitrarily small final target ball, of the related quantized sampled-data closed-loop system provided that the observation errors do not affect (or affect marginally) the robustification term added in the controller and, that the bounds of the actuation disturbances as well as of the observation errors are a priori known. The theory here developed includes also the cases of time-varying sampling intervals and of non-uniform quantization of the input/output channels as well as the stability analysis of the inter-sampling system behavior. The provided results are validated through an example of one-link manipulator.
