Target detection of electronic components on PCB (Printed circuit board) based on vision is the core technology for 3C (Computer, Communication and Consumer Electronics) manufacturing companies to achieve quality control and intelligent assembly of robots. However, the number of electronic components on PCB is large, and the shape is different. At present, the accuracy of the algorithm for detecting all electronic components is not high. This paper proposes an improved algorithm based on YOLO (you only look once) V3 (Version 3), which uses a real PCB picture and a virtual PCB picture with synthesized data as a joint training dataset, which greatly increases the recognizability of training electronic components and provides the greatest possibility for data enhancement. After analyzing the feature distribution of the five dimensionality-reduced output layers of Darknet-53 and the size distribution of the detection target, it is proposed to adjust the original three YOLO output layers to four YOLO output layers and generate 12 anchor boxes for electronic component detection. The experimental results show that the mean average precision (mAP) of the improved YOLO V3 algorithm can achieve 93.07%.

Tea is rich in polyphenols, vitamins, and protein, which is good for health and tastes great. As a result, tea is very popular and has become the second most popular beverage in the world after water. For this reason, it is essential to improve the yield and quality of tea. In this paper, we review the application of computer vision and machine learning in the tea industry in the last decade, covering three crucial stages: cultivation, harvesting, and processing of tea. We found that many advanced artificial intelligence algorithms and sensor technologies have been used in tea, resulting in some vision-based tea harvesting equipment and disease detection methods. However, these applications focus on the identification of tea buds, the detection of several common diseases, and the classification of tea products. Clearly, the current applications have limitations and are insufficient for the intelligent and sustainable development of the tea field. The current fruitful developments in technologies related to UAVs, vision navigation, soft robotics, and sensors have the potential to provide new opportunities for vision-based tea harvesting machines, intelligent tea garden management, and multimodal-based tea processing monitoring. Therefore, research and development combining computer vision and machine learning is undoubtedly a future trend in the tea industry.

The automation and intellectualization of the manufacturing processes in the iron and steel industry needs the strong support of inspection technologies, which play an important role in the field of quality control. At present, visual inspection technology based on image processing has an absolute advantage because of its intuitive nature, convenience, and efficiency. A major breakthrough in this field can be achieved if sufficient research regarding visual inspection technologies is undertaken. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to study the latest developments in steel inspection relating to the detected object, system hardware, and system software, existing problems of current inspection technologies, and future research directions. The paper mainly focuses on the research status and trends of inspection technology. The network framework based on deep learning provides space for the development of end-to-end mode inspection technology, which would greatly promote the implementation of intelligent manufacturing.

Rapid object recognition in the industrial field is the key to intelligent manufacturing. The research on fast recognition methods based on deep learning was the focus of researchers in recent years, but the balance between detection speed and accuracy was not well solved. In this paper, a fast recognition method for electronic components in a complex background is presented. Firstly, we built the image dataset, including image acquisition, image augmentation, and image labeling. Secondly, a fast recognition method based on deep learning was proposed. The balance between detection accuracy and detection speed was solved through the lightweight improvement of YOLO (You Only Look Once)-V3 network model. Finally, the experiment was completed, and the proposed method was compared with several popular detection methods. The results showed that the accuracy reached 95.21% and the speed was 0.0794 s, which proved the superiority of this method for electronic component detection.

The vision-based fruit recognition and localization system is the basis for the automatic operation of agricultural harvesting robots. Existing detection models are often constrained by high complexity and slow inference speed, which do not meet the real-time requirements of harvesting robots. Here, a method for apple object detection and localization is proposed to address the above problems. First, an improved YOLOX network is designed to detect the target region, with a multi-branch topology in the training phase and a single-branch structure in the inference phase. The spatial pyramid pooling layer (SPP) with serial structure is used to expand the receptive field of the backbone network and ensure a fixed output. Second, the RGB-D camera is used to obtain the aligned depth image and to calculate the depth value of the desired point. Finally, the three-dimensional coordinates of apple-picking points are obtained by combining two-dimensional coordinates in the RGB image and depth value. Experimental results show that the proposed method has high accuracy and real-time performance: F1 is 93%, mean average precision (mAP) is 94.09%, detection speed can reach 167.43 F/s, and the positioning errors in X, Y, and Z directions are less than 7 mm, 7 mm, and 5 mm, respectively.
