Prof. Etel Rodrigues Pereira Gimba holds a degree in Biological Sciences from UFRGS (1992) and a PhD from the Postgraduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology at UFRGS (1999). She worked as a postdoctoral fellow at FIOCRUZ (1999), as a visiting professor and postdoctoral fellow at UFRJ (Department of Biochemistry, 1999–2001), and as a postdoctoral fellow at INCa (2001–2004), followed by a period as a full researcher at INCa (2004–2009). She worked as a visiting professor at Emory University (Atlanta, USA—2018) and Middlesex University (London, England—2015). She was a Senior Visiting Researcher at the University of Porto/I3S/IPATIMUP, Portugal (2018–2019). She is an associate member of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), an Associate Professor and permanent professor of the Postgraduate Program in Biomedical Sciences at the Fluminense Federal University, a collaborating researcher at INCA, a Scientist of Our State (CNE) scholarship holder from FAPERJ, and a Productivity scholarship holder from CNPQ-level 1D. She works in research lines aimed at the characterization of neoplastic biomarkers and in the study of the function and regulation of the expression of genes involved in the progression of different tumor models.
