Li Zhang graduated from China University of Mining and Technology (Xuzhou) in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in mining geophysics, and graduated from Wuhan University (formerly Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping) in 1995 with a master's degree in aerial photogrammetry and remote sensing. He graduated from the Swiss Federal University of Technology (ETH) in 2005 with a doctorate degree in aerial photogrammetry and remote sensing. Since 2006, he has worked in the Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping.
He is currently a professor with the institute of Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping (CASM). His major research interests include computer vision, photogrammetry and remote sensing.
