Rubem Figueiredo Sadok Menna-Barreto graduated in biological sciences from the Universidade Santa Úrsula (2003). He achieved his master's (2006) and doctorate (2008) in cellular and molecular biology at IOC, Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, and his post-doctorate degree from the Institute of Medical Biochemistry, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2010). He is currently a senior researcher at Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, a CNPq level 1C productivity scholarship holder (since 2014), and a scientist from Nosso Estado (since 2021) by FAPERJ (JCNE 2015–2021). He is a permanent advisor to the graduate program in cellular and molecular biology and parasitic biology, IOC. He is a member of the Society for Redox Biology and Medicine (2019–2022) and the Brazilian Society of Protozoology (since 2001). He has experience in protozoology, acting in chemotherapy, Chagas disease, electron microscopy, high-resolution oxygen, autophagy, mitochondria, oxidative stress, and naphthoquinones (h index = 36, 10743 citations, i10 index = 85, m index = 1.94, g index = 9). He is listed among the most influential researchers in 2019 and 2020 (according to a study by Stanford University and Elsevier).
