The Mechatronic Engineer José Cornejo presented in his Undergraduate Thesis at Ricardo Palma University, the design of a surgical system prototype, which has an anthropomorphic robotic arm with 5 degrees of freedom called Biomedik Surgeon, used in simulation to research in the field of Biomedical Engineering, with the purpose of training the surgical skills in medical students using concepts of Medical Robotics, and in this way prepare the future physicians of Peru to offer advanced technology care in Surgery. The term Surgical Engineering was introduced, which is an area that involves the multidisciplinary work among engineers, architects and health professionals in the path of creating technologies to provide high quality care for the surgical patient and to improve the attention processes in Surgical Centers in Peru. The medical description of the Surgical Robotic System was deepened, where criteria of mechanical, electronic, electrical and software control were applied to build a prototype based on international standards of advanced technologies used in the area of surgery. Finally, the training and simulation tests in Minimally Invasive Surgery techniques were performed with the use of a cutting tool. The successful accreditation of the project was granted by the Scientific Society of Medical Students at the Faculty of Human Medicine "Manuel Huamán Guerrero" - Ricardo Palma University.
This research has been implemented with a focus on the optimal mechatronics resources for Aerospace Monitoring in Peruvian Sky, specifically on the Troposphere. The device is called Paulet-1, which is a prototype developed in the Mechatronics Laboratory at Ricardo Palma University, Peru from 2017 to 2018. The design consisted of the analysis of the size, weight and price in order to create a sustainable embedded system to measure variables of humidity, pressure, temperature and localization, besides, the development was based on the technological risk caused by the earth’s atmosphere conditions. The Tests were performed in 3 locations, the First was in Santiago de Surco District, the Second was in Lurín District and the Third was in Asia District, all were in Lima Province. In conclusion, favorable results were achieved; therefore, the next version of the prototype Paultet-2 is confirmed to be ready for developing in 2020.
Inching-locomotion caterpillars (ILAR) show impressive environmental adaptation, having high dexterity and flexibility. To design robots that mimic these abilities, a novel bioinspired robotic design (BIROD) method is presented. The method is composed by an algorithm for geometrical kinematic analysis (GEKINS) to standardize the proportional dimensions according to the insect’s anatomy and obtain the kinematic chains. The approach is experimentally applied to analyze the locomotion and kinematic chain of these specimens: Geometridae—two pair of prolegs (represents 35 000 species) and Plusiinae—three pair of prolegs (represents 400 species). The obtained data indicate that the application of the proposed method permits to locate the attachment mechanisms, joints, links, and to calculate angular displacement, angular average velocity, number of degrees of freedom, and thus the kinematic chain. Geometridae in contrast to Plusiinae, shows a longer walk-stride length, a lower number of single-rotational joints in 2D (3 DOF versus 4 DOF), and a lower number of dual-rotational joints in 3D (6 DOF versus 8 DOF). The application of BIROD and GEKINS provides the forward kinematics for 35 400 ILAR species and are expected to be useful as a preliminary phase for the design of bio-inspired arthropod robots.

Background: Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is one of the main causes of permanent disability, as it can cause serious brain injuries with significant physical consequences, limiting the ability to perform daily activities. Objective: This research aimed to design a robotic system of passive-continuous movement for the rehabilitation of lower limbs in adult patients with stroke, thus improving the chances of recovery of their walking mobility. Methodology: Modeling and simulation of the robotic system using Computer Aided Design (CAD), using the engineering software Autodesk Inventor Professional 2023. Results: The initial and final positions of the robotic system were obtained, as well as the simulation of passive-continuous movement. Conclusions: Taking precise measurements of a patient maximizes the possibility of implementing a functional prototype that contributes to the rehabilitation process.
Automatizing different works to save money has evolved into a need to cover labor shortages, improved yield, and reach places where humans cannot. However, agricultural advances are in constant development due to huge production to cover people’s needs plus the fact that diversity of crop species, difficulting in the elaboration of a machine for any case, and the feature to work steadily on large surfaces. Thus, many robots are being designed depending on the challenges of a specific crop at the same time that is designed to have autonomy working with rechargeable energy supply to reduce contamination. For those reasons, the research line of Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) in the Division of Biomechatronics and Life Support Systems at the Center of Space Emerging Technologies (C-SET) worked in collaboration with the Department of Mechatronics Engineering of the Corporación Universitaria del Huila, to develop technical literature micro-review of land-based robots has been done to highlight the possibilities of creating practical solutions to farmers recurrent tasks aiming for future space agriculture applications. In addition, some proposals are mentioned where could be possible to adapt some main features of the farming robots besides the different designs from the researchers. This review is pretended to be taken as inspiration to explore further the viable applications of robots in many fields. In conclusion, it is necessary the analysis of current projects to arrive at an efficient result for human ordeals like starvation, improving the tools to multiply the production even outside the earth.
