Jaime Llanos received his PhD in 1984 at the University of Stuttgart-Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research under the supervision of Pf Prof. Dr. Dr. hc mult. Hans Georg von Schnering. At present is full professor of the Universidad Católica del Norte and leads an active group research group on the optical properties of lanthanide ions and its application as spectral converters for solar cells.
