Ramkumar Katturajan, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine (Indianapolis, USA), working under the mentorship of Dr. Gregory H. Borschel. He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biotechnology and Biochemistry from the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India, and previously conducted international research at Chang Gung University in Taiwan. Dr. Katturajan's research bridges peripheral nerve regeneration, corneal neurobiology, sensory innervation, and biomaterial-based targeted drug delivery. His recent work focuses on nerve-dependent receptor signaling dynamics—specifically TrkA and $\text{p75}^{\text{NTR}}$ receptor switches in Schwann cell–epithelial interactions—and bio-inspired platforms (hydrogels and local drug delivery systems) to enhance axonal regrowth, tissue reinnervation, and ocular surface repair. Driven by a commitment to translate fundamental molecular neurobiology into effective, patient-centered therapies. My mission is to decode the cellular mechanisms governing neuro-epithelial crosstalk and peripheral nerve regeneration, developing biomimetic platforms and targeted pharmacological strategies that restore function to severely denervated tissues and improve patient outcomes.
