Dr. Stefania Marzorati is currently a researcher at the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy of the University of Milan. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Chemical Sciences at the University of Milan, and she received her PhD degree in Chemical Sciences in 2015 from the same University with a research project on valorisation of biomasses towards the production of nano- and micro-structured materials for energy applications. She worked as a visiting PhD student for six months at the Centre for Research on Adaptive Nanostructures and Nanodevices (CRANN) at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), where she became familiar with physico-chemical methods for the fine characterization of (bio)materials. Over years, she gained expertise on different techniques for agro-industrial waste and by-products valorisation, acquiring knowledge of physico-chemical and electrochemical techniques such as XPS, Raman spectroscopy, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, HPLC and UPLC-MS, and—in recent years—supercritical fluid extraction techniques, whose apparatus is currently one of the cores of her research activities.
