An IoT wristband for basketball shooting analysis, which can provide quantitative shooting guidance for basketball players in a convenient, low-cost manner, was developed. A micro inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor-based wristband was used to collect the shooting motion data of 20 basketball players with different levels of skills: 15 amateur players and 5 elite players. The wristband was 247 mm ${}\times {}20$ mm ${}\times {}11$ mm in size, weighed 12.3 g, and consisted of a power system, a microcontroller, and an IMU sensor (MPU-9250), which can acquire the triaxial data of acceleration, angular velocity, and magnetic field data, and then transmit them to a computing platform via Bluetooth. After correlation analysis, the triaxial data of accelerations and angular velocities were used to identify these 18 shooting movements. Experimental results showed that the four categories of shooting movements (i.e., set shots, layups, jump shots, and tip-ins) could be recognized with an accuracy of 98.0%. The overall recognition accuracy of 18 kinds of shooting movements reached 98.5%. The AI wristband could also be used to distinguish the identity of the participants with a recognition rate of 97.4%. This new technology can be applied to quantitative basketball shot-making guidance and has potential applications for analyzing the motions of other sports such as table tennis, racquetball, volleyball, and soccer.

Traditional approaches to improving basketball players’ shooting skills rely on coaches’ experience in adjusting players’ biomechanical motions. However, such an approach cannot provide specific instructions or facilitate immediate feedback for improvement of the shooting motion. In this article, a method is presented to quantitatively evaluate four key action indicators of shooting basketballs using a machine‐learning model based on Bayesian optimization of a light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM). Important motion data for the model are collected by micro‐inertial measurement units embedded in a wrist motion sensor and an internet of things (IoT) smart basketball. Basketball shooting motion data are collected from 16 subjects and used for model training and data testing, and four important action indicators that influence the shot quality are selected for quantitative assessment. The LightGBM model is then developed for the regression prediction of the four action indicators of shooting. In the results, it is indicated that for an individual player, the highest correlation scores of the four indexes range from 97.6% to 99.3%. The proposed approach for quantitatively assessing shooting indexes can provide objective and data‐based guidance to improve players’ shooting performance. Foreseeably, the prediction model can be embedded into a chip of a wearable device to evaluate the real‐time shot quality quantitatively.

Electrochemical Immunosensing (EI) combines electrochemical analysis and immunology principles and is characterized by its simplicity, rapid detection, high sensitivity, and specificity. EI has become an important approach in various fields, such as clinical diagnosis, disease prevention and treatment, environmental monitoring, and food safety. However, EI multi-component detection still faces two major bottlenecks: first, the lack of cost-effective and portable detection platforms; second, the difficulty in eliminating batch differences and accurately decoupling signals from multiple analytes. With the gradual maturation of biochip technology, high-throughput analysis and portable detection utilizing the advantages of miniaturized chips, high sensitivity, and low cost have become possible. Meanwhile, Artificial Intelligence (AI) enables accurate decoupling of signals and enhances the sensitivity and specificity of multi-component detection. We believe that by evaluating and analyzing the characteristics, benefits, and linkages of EI, biochip, and AI technologies, we may considerably accelerate the development of EI multi-component detection. Therefore, we propose three specific prospects: first, AI can enhance and optimize the performance of the EI biochips, addressing the issue of multi-component detection for portable platforms. Second, the AI-enhanced EI biochips can be widely applied in home care, medical healthcare, and other areas. Third, the cross-fusion and innovation of EI, biochip, and AI technologies will effectively solve key bottlenecks in biochip detection, promoting interdisciplinary development. However, challenges may arise from AI algorithms that are difficult to explain and limited data access. Nevertheless, we believe that with technological advances and further research, there will be more methods and technologies to overcome these challenges.

Identifying the impact location (“sweet spot”) on a tennis racket is crucial for performance evaluation in tennis training. However, existing approaches typically rely on expensive vision-based systems or specialized sensors, limiting their applicability in real-world scenarios. We propose a sound-sensor-based multi-task framework for racket impact localization using acoustic signals, combining radial region classification with continuous position regression. To effectively model complex acoustic patterns, we design a multi-expert convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture with multi-scale feature extraction and task-specific optimization. Each expert branch operates at a different temporal receptive field and is trained with tailored loss functions, enabling complementary learning of global patterns, class imbalance characteristics, and hard samples. The shared backbone jointly supports both classification and regression tasks, allowing the model to learn more informative and structured representations. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework consistently outperforms conventional methods in radial region classification while achieving accurate impact position estimation. Furthermore, additive noise augmentation significantly improves robustness, enabling stable performance under noisy and practical sensing conditions.
