The 3D model of a building was built to analyze the scene of a fire with reference to the real situation. The process of evolution of a fire was simulated with FDS. The evolution time of the fire, the degree of danger, the temperature as well as the visibility was analyzed. Architectural solutions that could be considered for the prevention and evolution of fire in the presented situations were also analyzed. The results of the simulations in the proposed scenarios showed that solutions could be found to prevent the spread of fire. The results of the study provide a real base for improving the evacuation conditions and limiting the damage caused by fire in single-family buildings.

The catastrophic fire at Bucharest’s Colectiv Club marks a profoundly tragic event in Romania’s history, being one of the most significant human-made disasters the country has faced in recent decades. This study seeks to meticulously reconstruct the events of that fateful night through the use of advanced simulation software applications. By doing so, it aims to provide a detailed analysis of the factors leading to the tragedy, which claimed the lives of 64 individuals and caused injuries to 185 others. The objective is to understand better the dynamics and consequences of the fire, potentially leading to improvements in safety protocols and emergency response strategies to prevent such disasters in the future.

The temperature in the storage of photovoltaic batteries has a significant impact on their lifetime and efficiency. Optimal battery operation is achieved at room temperature, approximately 25°C. Deviations from this temperature can adversely affect the battery’s capabilities, lowering its performance and accelerating the degradation of internal components. Both high and low temperatures can shorten battery life. In high temperature conditions, undesirable chemical reactions can occur that accelerate battery wear, while low temperatures can reduce ion mobility, decreasing the charge capacity. This study uses Ansys Fluent to simulate the impact of temperature on photovoltaic battery performance, the battery is comprised of lithium-ion cells. Numerical simulations investigated the relationship between ventilation rate and battery temperature, revealing a direct correlation: higher ventilation rates significantly reduced temperatures. Four scenarios were modelled, ranging from natural convection to two fan velocity. Natural convection proved insufficient for optimal temperature control, whereas fan ventilation, especially at higher velocity, efficiently dissipated heat, improving performance and lifespan. Increasing the air velocity in the storage space of photovoltaic batteries has a direct positive impact on temperature management, the main conclusion of the study.
