Paola Bontempo, MD, PhD, is an Aggregate Professor of Clinical Pathology at the Department of Precision Medicine of University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, Naples. Her research interest is focused on Pathology, Oncology, in particular Cancer, Apoptosis, Signal Transduction, Epigenetics. She has been actively involved, for most of her scientific career, in studies concerning the mechanism(s) of proliferation differentiation and apoptosis. In the last years, she focused on the analysis of cell cycle regulation/proliferation by steroid hormones and other extracellular stimuli, and the elucidation of the underlying mechanisms. Recent relevant studies regard the epigenetic treatment of neoplastic disease and the Identification and characterization of antiproliferative and epigenetic effects of plant extracts and natural compounds. She participated to different co-financed projects and the results of her activity are documented by many publications in international scientific journals. She is member of the Epigenetics Society and editorial board member or referee of several international journals.
