Objective In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between the oxytocin level and the rejection sensitivity, childhood mental traumas, and attachment styles in patients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD).Methods Participants between the ages of 18–30 were included in the study. The patient group consists of 31 participants and the healthy control group consists of 31 participants. Sociodemographic/Clinical Variables Questionnaire, Relationship Scales Questionnaire, Rejection Sensitivity Questionnaire and Childhood Trauma Questionnaire were administered to the participants included in the study. Serum oxytocin levels of the participants were measured using the Elisa method. Results The oxytocin levels were found to be significantly lower in patients with BPD than in healthy control subjects, whereas the rejection sensitivity and childhood traumas were found to be significantly higher. No difference was found between the patient and control groups in terms of attachment styles, yet it was determined that there may be differences between the oxytocin levels of the BPD patients according to the attachment styles the patients have. Conclusion In conclusion, the findings of this study revealed that the rejection sensitivity in BPD patients is not associated with oxytocin levels and childhood traumas, indicating the need to assess the BPD patients in terms of other biopsychosocial factors related to the etiopathogenesis of BPD.

Purpose: We hypothesized that the level of cyberchondria may be related to exaggeration of bodily sensations in patients diagnosed with psoriasis and that the level of alexithymia may have a mediating effect on this relationship. Materials and Methods: Our research sample consists of 101 patients diagnosed with Psoriasis and 89 healthy controls. Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) was applied to patients diagnosed with psoriasis. All participants completed the Sociodemographic Data Form, Cyberchondria Severity Scale (CCS), Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck AnxietyInventory (BAI) and Somatosensory Amplification Scale (SSAS). Results: SCÖ F1, F2 subscale and total scores in the control group; f5 scores were statistically significantly higher in the psoriasis group. SSAS total scores in the psoriasis group were statistically significantly higher than in the control group. A significant, positive and low level correlation was found between PASI and SCS f1, BD and ssas scores in psoriasis patients. There is a significant, positive and significant difference between PASI and BA scores. A moderate correlation was found. The mediating effect of alexithymia in the relationship between cyberchondria and exaggeration of bodily sensations. In the mediation analysis examined, alexithymia was found to be a partial mediator. Both the direct and indirect (mediating effect) effects of cyberchondria on alexithymia are significant. Conclusion: Alexithymia has a mediating effect on the relationship between cyberchondria and exaggeration of bodily sensations in patients with psoriasis. In clinical practice, assessing the level of exaggeration of bodily sensations and alexithymia may be predictive to determine the pathological level of health information seeking behavior in people suffering from chronic diseases such as psoriasis.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between obsessional dissociation, family accommodation, and anxiety sensitivity in individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Materials and Methods: The participants of this descriptive and relationship-seeking study were 62 individuals with OCD and 43 healthy controls. We collected data using a sociodemographic data form, the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (YBOCS), the Family Accommodation Scale-Patient Version (FAS-PV), the Anxiety Sensitivity Index-3 (ASI-3), and the Van Obsessional Dissociation Questionnaire (VOD-Q). Results: Both the ASI-3 and VOD-Q subscale and global scores of the patients participating in the study were higher than those of the healthy controls, and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups. Sixty-two percent of the total score of VOD-Q was explained by the ASI-3 total and subscale scores, 16% by the YBOCS total and subscale scores, and 11% by the FAS-PV total and subscale scores (F:38.622; F:6.797; and F:2.941, respectively). Conclusion: In our study, individuals diagnosed with OCD had higher levels of obsessional dissociation than healthy individuals and anxiety sensitivity, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and family accommodation are effective in the development of obsessional dissociation in individuals diagnosed with OCD.

Introduction: The present study aimed to compare the Parietal Lobe (PL) volumes and Cancellation Test (CT) performances of euthymic patients with Bipolar Disorder -1 (BD) and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), and healthy controls. Methods: The present study included 63 participants in three groups; two patient groups in remission involving patients with BD and MDD diagnosed according to DSM-5 and a control group with healthy individuals. Sociodemographic Data Form, CT, and Hand Preference Questionnaire were applied to all participants. Participant PL volumes were measured with the Cloud-Based Brain Magnetic Resonance Image Segmentation - Parcellation System. Results: Both patient groups exhibited lower PL volume when compared to the control group, and there was no difference between the patient groups based on PL volume. It was determined that MDD and BB patients scored less in the CT when compared to the control group. There was a weak correlation between right and left PL volumes and CT performances. Conclusion: The present study findings demonstrated that BD and MDD patients in remission exhibited lower PL volume and CT performance when compared to healthy controls, emphasizing that PL could be structurally and functionally significant in the pathophysiology of mood disorders.

Objective: Acne vulgaris is among dermatological diseases that increase suicide risk significantly. We aimed to investigate the relationship between suicide risk and acne severity, psychological pain, and especially brooding rumination in 18-36 year old acne vulgaris patients. Material and Methods: Our study was conducted with 103 acne vulgaris patients and 87 healthy controls. Study data were collected with a Socio-demographic Data Form, Global Acne Scoring System (GASS), Suicide Probability Scale (SPS), Psychological Pain Scale (PPS), Rumination Response Scale – Short Form (RRS-SF), and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Results: It was determined that median brooding rumination, total SPS scores and Hopelesness, hostility subscale scores were statistically significantly higher in the patient group (p values; 0.035, 0.006, 0.032, 0.007). In the patient group, the analysis of the correlations between the GASS and scale scores when the BDI score is controlled demonstrated that there were weak positive correlations between SPS despair and hostility subscale scores and total SPS score and PPS and brooding rumination scores (p: 0.003; r: 0.270), (p:0.014; r: 0.218), (p:0.010; r:0.229),(p:<0.001; r:0.389), (p:0.001, r: 0.304), (p:0.010; r:0.229). It was determined that brooding rumination, PPS and GASS scores contributed significantly to the multiple linear regression model structured estimate of the total SPS score. Conclusion: Since the suicidal risk of acne patients with acne who present to dermatology clinics could be high, it is important to follow up these patients with the psychiatry clinic, and in addition to acne treatment, therapeutic interventions that aim to reduce ruminative ideation and psychological pain could significantly contribute to the reduction of suicide risk.

Objective The aim of the study is to explore the relationship between family accommodation, emotion regulation difficulties, and alexithymia in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).Methods The study group consisted of 107 individuals diagnosed with OCD, while the control group included 151 healthy individuals. Sociodemographic data form, Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (YBOCS), Family Accommodation Scale-Patient Version (FASPV), Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS), and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) were used to collect data. Results In our study, it was found that the median DERS and TAS scores of the participants were significantly higher in the OCD group than in the control group. A moderate positive correlation was found between FAS-PV and the total score of YBOCS (p=0.002, r=0.302). Statistically significant, low to moderate, positive correlations were observed between FAS-PV and the total score of DERS (p=0.001, r=0.319). Furthermore, a statistically significant, moderate to low correlation was found between YBOCS and the total score of DERS. A positive and substantial influence on FAS-PV is provided by the YBOCS variable (B=0.571, p=0.01).Conclusion In conclusion, this study found that difficulty in emotion regulation and alexithymia levels were higher in individuals with OCD compared to healthy controls, and that family accommodation was related to both difficulties in emotion regulation and alexithymia. Finally, it was determined that difficulty in emotion regulation has a mediating effect in the relationship between family accommodation and alexithymia. It is suggested that longitudinal studies be conducted to further support the data presented by this study.
