Sandra Pina is an Assistant Researcher at
the ICVS/3B´s Associate Laboratory, University of Minho. She received her
European PhD in Materials Science and Eng. from the University of Aveiro. Her
research is focused on the field of bioresorbable bioceramics for tissue
engineering and regenerative medicine with main applications in bone and
osteochondral defects and diseases. She has also been granted two patents (WO and EU),
related to ion-doped bioceramics. She has been participating in the preparation/implementation/co-coordination
of national and international projects, and she is a team member of several EU
and PT-funded projects (e.g., HierarchiTech (M-ERA.Net/0001/2014), BiogenInk
(M-ERA-NET2/0022/2016), bilateral cooperation (2018/2019 ALEMANHA-DAAD), and EU
H2020: BAMOS) for bone and osteochondral tissue engineering and regeneration.
She has been serving as a referee for international journals and research
projects/grants for European Funding Agencies, and she is a member of the
Editorial Board of Materials.
