Pibo Su received his PhD in Marine Geology from Xiamen University in 2011. He is currently a professor-level senior engineer at the Key Laboratory of Marine Mineral Resources of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Gas Hydrate Engineering Technology Center of the Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey (GMGS). He is also a young member of the editorial board of the Natural Gas Industry magazine. Over the past decade, Su Pibo has been responsible for nearly 10 national-level gas hydrate research projects at GMGS. He has led or participated in over 50 reports on the results of gas hydrate surveys in the South China Sea, including drilling well location recommendation reports and drilling site reports. As a core member of the gas hydrate innovation team, the major discovery of gas hydrate resources in Shenhu and its adjacent waters won the honorary certificate of "Top Ten Geological Advances in China's Geological Survey" in 2015. He has made many original achievements in gas hydrate mineralization theory, prospecting methods and evaluation technology.
