The combinatorial explosion problem is a great challenge for Belief Rule Base (BRB) when a complex system has over-numbered attributes and/or referenced values for the attributes. This is because BRB is conventionally constructed under the conjunctive assumption, conjunctive BRB, which requires transversally covering each possible combination of all referenced values for all attributes. To solve this challenge, this study proposes a generic modeling, inferencing, and optimization approach for BRB under the disjunctive assumption, disjunctive BRB, that can significantly reduce its size. First, a disjunctive BRB is defined based on the mathematical description of the BRB space. The minimum size requirement for a disjunctive BRB is also discussed in comparison to a conjunctive one. Building on this, the generic disjunctive BRB modeling and inferencing procedures are proposed. Furthermore, an improved optimization model with further relaxed restrictions is constructed, and an optimization algorithm is developed in which only the new rule is optimized and its referenced values range is determined by the optimal solution in the former round optimization. With fewer variables and a more concise solution space, the new optimization algorithm is more efficient. Three cases are studied to validate the efficiency of the proposed disjunctive BRB approach. The study confirms that by integrating both experts' knowledge and historic data, the modeling and inferencing processes can be well understood. Moreover, optimization can further improve the modeling accuracy while it facilitates downsizing BRB in comparison with previous studies and other approaches.
The purpose of this article is to analyse the emotional evolution of the netizens in reaction to the events of the Anti-ELAB (Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill) movement in Hong Kong. We attempt to investigate evolving laws of large-scale Internet public opinion events and provide relevant agencies with a theoretical basis for a public opinion response mechanism. On the basis of improving the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) pre-training task, we add in-depth pre-training tasks, and based on the optimisation results of the LDA topic embedding, we integrate deeply with the LDA model to dynamically present the fine-grained public sentiment of the event. Through the collection of large-scale text data related to the Anti-ELAB Movement from a well-known forum in Hong Kong, a BERT-LDA hybrid model for large-scale network public opinion analysis is constructed in a complex context. Through empirical analysis, we calculate and reveal the emotional change process of netizens and opinion leaders in the three transition stages of the Anti-ELAB Movement with the evolution of the topic word as the core by visualisation. We also analyse the emotional distribution and evolution trend of public opinion under the `text topic', and deeply analyse the character and role of opinion leaders in Anti-ELAB public opinion events. The improved BERT-LDA model or sentiment classification AUC value exceeds 99.6% in the sentiment classification task for the Anti-ELAB Movement.
To improve the energy-saving supervision level of urban buildings and reduce the urban energy consumption, this article proposes an intelligent energy-saving supervision system of the urban buildings based on the Internet of Things (IoT). Regarding the advantages and applications of the IoT, a layered framework of the intelligent energy-saving supervision system that integrates the IoT is constructed. In this framework, three key system layers, including the data acquisition based on the IoT, the data integration based on cloud computing, and the intelligent service based on data prediction, defect management and differential management, are separately implemented. On that basis, a case study is performed on a large public building named Campus Library of the South China University of Technology. After the three-year application in an intelligent and real-time supervision manner, the annual energy consumption of the studied building is reduced by 35%, which validates the practicability and effectiveness of the system proposed in this article.
Many decision making problems involve multiple decision makers and conflicting objectives. This paper refers to this kind of problems as group decision making for multiobjective problems (GDM-MOP). The task of GDM-MOP is to select final solution(s) from a set of nondominated solutions according to the decision makers' preferences. However, it is common that the preference could be imprecise. We study the GDM-MOP where preferences are expressed by fuzzy reference points, called as fuzzy GDMMOP (FGDM-MOP). This paper provides a decision support model to simultaneously consider two measures for FGDM-MOP: consensus measure and robustness measure. The former is used to reflect the acceptable degree of a solution by the decision making group, while the latter indicates a solution's ability to cope with any change on preferences. A multiobjective evolutionary approach is presented to solve the problem. Finally, a modified benchmark function is studied to illustrate the proposed approach.
As a crucial technique for identifying irregular samples or outlier patterns, anomaly detection has broad applications in many fields. Convex analysis (CA) is one of the fundamental methods used in anomaly detection, which contributes to the robust approximation of algebra and geometry, efficient computation to a unique global solution, and mathematical optimization for modeling. Despite the essential role and evergrowing research in CA-based anomaly detection algorithms, little work has realized a comprehensive survey of it. To fill this gap, we summarize the CA techniques used in anomaly detection and classify them into four categories of density estimation methods, matrix factorization methods, machine learning methods, and the others. The theoretical background, sub-categories of methods, typical applications as well as strengths and limitations for each category are introduced. This paper sheds light on a succinct and structured framework and provides researchers with new insights into both anomaly detection and CA. With the remarkable progress made in the techniques of big data and machine learning, CA-based anomaly detection holds great promise for more expeditious, accurate and intelligent detection capacities.
Background: Cell lytic enzyme is a kind of highly evolved protein, which can destroy the cell structure and kill the bacteria. Compared with antibiotics, cell lytic enzyme will not cause serious problem of drug resistance of pathogenic bacteria. Thus, the study of cell wall lytic enzymes aims at finding an efficient way for curing bacteria infectious. Compared with using antibiotics, the problem of drug resistance becomes more serious. Therefore, it is a good choice for curing bacterial infections by using cell lytic enzymes. Cell lytic enzyme includes endolysin and autolysin and the difference between them is the purpose of the break of cell wall. The identification of the type of cell lytic enzymes is meaningful for the study of cell wall enzymes. Objective: In this article, our motivation is to predict the type of cell lytic enzyme. Cell lytic enzyme is helpful for killing bacteria, so it is meaningful for study the type of cell lytic enzyme. However, it is time consuming to detect the type of cell lytic enzyme by experimental methods. Thus, an efficient computational method for the type of cell lytic enzyme prediction is proposed in our work. Method: We propose a computational method for the prediction of endolysin and autolysin. First, a data set containing 27 endolysins and 41 autolysins is built. Then the protein is represented by tripeptides composition. The features are selected with larger confidence degree. At last, the classifier is trained by the labeled vectors based on support vector machine. The learned classifier is used to predict the type of cell lytic enzyme. Results: Following the proposed method, the experimental results show that the overall accuracy can attain 97.06%, when 44 features are selected. Compared with Ding's method, our method improves the overall accuracy by nearly 4.5% ((97.06-92.9)/92.9%). The performance of our proposed method is stable, when the selected feature number is from 40 to 70. The overall accuracy of tripeptides optimal feature set is 94.12%, and the overall accuracy of Chou's amphiphilic PseAAC method is 76.2%. The experimental results also demonstrate that the overall accuracy is improved by nearly 18% when using the tripeptides optimal feature set. Conclusion: The paper proposed an efficient method for identifying endolysin and autolysin. In this paper, support vector machine is used to predict the type of cell lytic enzyme. The experimental results show that the overall accuracy of the proposed method is 94.12%, which is better than some existing methods. In conclusion, the selected 44 features can improve the overall accuracy for identification of the type of cell lytic enzyme. Support vector machine performs better than other classifiers when using the selected feature set on the benchmark data set.
